4 College Senior

Transportation: Campus shuttles are always running. While I don't use them, I know they are there for me if I need them.

5 College Freshman

Transportation: I find that the buses run at nearly all hours of the day. They are well-managed, always available, and the bus drivers give us great service. I often travel from the front of the campus to the hilltop dorms via the bus, with no problem. I believe they stop their services at 6pm. It's ideal considering it's getting dark, and the drivers have other matters to attend to. Over all, I can't find anything wrong with the transportation. Thank you!

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: I commute and the commute is not bad. You can ride the bus anywhere you want. would rather take the bus then taxis because of prices.

4 College Junior

Transportation: Transportation is great, but parking is awful!

3 College Student

Transportation: I take my own car

One of the many great things about coming to UIW is its location. The University is located in a very central area of San Antonio, so other areas of the city won't seem to be very far away. However, it is still not a good idea to walk to other areas of the city. Instead, it is encouraged that you take some type of transportation, whether it be your own car, a friend's car, the Via bus, or if all else fails, a local taxi service. Probably the most convenient way to get around the city is having your own car or asking a friend for a ride.

To get around within campus, the shuttle buses offer a great service. They are very convenient, especially when the heat is at its prime or when you parked far from your class. The shuttle service has several convenient stops where you can wait for the next bus to pick you up.

Facts & Statistics

Best Ways to Get Around Town
  • Via city buses
  • Driving in your own car or tagging along with friends who own cars
Best Ways to Get to the Airport
Probably the best way to get to the airport is to make arrangements ahead of time and ask a friend to give you a ride. Other than that, the Via bus may also be a good way to get there, but remember, getting to the airport early is important!
Local Taxi Services
Taxis are not very popular with students, since most of them usually just car pool when they go out on the weekends.
