Facilities: Honestly what made me choose UIW, was that they offered me the most financial aid. But not only that, it had all the things I was looking for in a school. I know that private universities sometimes double in tuition than public ones but, I really loved that the classes were so small. I did not want to be in a classroom where my professor does not know my face or name.

Campus Strictness: I honestly do not really see the campus police around. Then again I do not live on campus. So when I am on school grounds I just get things done for my classes. Of course meaning going to class.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: It is a big city, yet everywhere you go you see familiar faces. In a way we all know each other in this town. It is a tourist town, very interesting. Especially when you go to the downtown area. It is just amazing.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There's a decent amount of options you just have to look for them. However you should double check to make sure that the off campus housing isn't more expensive than on campus housing. There are great deals for students though for certain places.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: The night life works best if you're at least 18 because there aren't many places to go to if you're 17, at night anyway. There's tons of bars and clubs downtown it's really just about what you're looking for.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Downtown is about ten minutes away so there are plenty of activities to do it's just a matter of transportation. There are a lot of places to go and most museums offer student discounts.

2 College Freshman

Parking: I don't park on campus but from what I hear it can get pretty crazy. It is difficult to find a spot so you should get to school early just to find a parking spot.

3 College Freshman

Weather: It is a well known fact amongst San Antonians that the weather is bipolar. It can change at the drop of a hat so you really just have to be ready and pay close attention to your weather app. It doesn't really affect school it somewhat changes the drive to and around school.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Housing is a little bit expensive but it's really worth it. I hear the parking on campus gets really competitive and sometimes traffic gets really bad on 281. It's just more convenient to live on campus because everything is where you need or or just a short drive away.

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: I think it's amazing if you find any on campus. You would really have to search to find some if it's even there at all.

5 College Freshman

Diversity: At UIW you meet people from all over the world. It's amazing the things you can learn from other cultures. Since we're so diverse we are all very accepting.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: I don't know much about the Greek life but I do know they do a lot of charity and fundraising events.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: They're strict on the things that really matter and have potential harm and generally average on other subjects.

4 College Freshman

Computers: The Wi-Fi changes every now and then and sometimes it's really slow but for the most part it works. It isn't really necessary as much as it is handy to have your own computer. There's always a computer lab open when you need it but it is just more helpful to have your own so that you won't have to rely on availability; the labs tend to be really busy.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: The side of town that the school is on is slightly affluent so the sit down and eat options are a little pricey. However there are other fast food options and there is a lot of fast food places like McDonalds and Whataburger.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: There's different places to go eat whether it be on or off campus. On campus the real trick is trying to get there before they close so you really have to be on a sort of schedule. However I would imagine that's how other schools are. There are a lot of options to eat off campus; there's a Bill Miller's across the street which is really nice.

Overall Experience: UIW is the perfect school for students who want to be involved in not only the students but the teachers as well. The school is just small enough so that you aren't swallowed up in the school and have to attend giant lecture halls. It is also just big enough so that you won't see the same people every single year. Everyone is nice and very welcoming and accepting of who you are and what you will become. It's a great school for someone who wants to be apart of something bigger than themselves.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Im not an athlete. But they treat football pretty highly

Transportation: Parking kind of sucks but they have a shuttle that will pick you up.. And you can leave your car in the garage. Plus the campus isn't too big so walking is not a hassle

3 College Freshman

Facilities: Since I don't live on campus, I don't really get to see much of the campus life. But there are a lot of volunteering mission activities.

5 College Freshman

Facilities: I love my school because it is so small. Its nice to not have to worry about classes being overwhelmingly huge. And your professor will learn your name.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: I don't like eating on campus because it is so expensive. So I walk down the street to other places and grab a bite.

5 College Freshman

Diversity: The majority of the kids are mexican. But there are a lot of other culture groups out there. White is not a huge one.

5 College Freshman

Computers: It is not very difficult to find a computer at the school. My best friend doesn't even bring her laptop all of the time. Wifi is super easy to get and can be accessed just about anywhere.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: The transportation is good, they are very helpful.

The University of the Incarnate Word has so much to offer. From the academics and excellent professors to the life-long friendships, you will not look back and regret coming to UIW. Most of the students really enjoy their experience at UIW. The friendships formed here usually last through college and beyond. There are also more genuine friendships since UIW is a small school, and keeping in contact with fellow classmates is very easy because you see the same people almost daily. UIW is a very diverse school, so it is like a "small world." The memories formed at UIW are endless.

The education is top-of-the-line, as it thoroughly prepares each student to excel in his or her desired field of study. The smaller atmosphere allows for more personal attention for each student. The relationships between students and teachers is very strong, and professors know students by their names because of the low student-to-teacher ratio. Sure, you will hear complaints here and there, whether it be about residence life or the cafeteria food, but keep in mind that everyone has different tastes, and nothing is perfect. Overall, students are very satisfied with their education at UIW and all that it brings them not only while they are in school but after they graduate as well. Professors and advisers make sure that their students are more than prepared for their careers and for whatever life may bring in the future.
