Campus Housing: See, I wouldn't know what it's like. I live 10 minutes away from the campus, with my family. I stay over at my friend's dorms every now and then, or we hang out there for awhile. From what I've seen, the housing is nice, pretty average. I visit the Juaris (I believe that's the correct name) dorms. They were recently built, and are supposed to be the best on campus. The single shower stall type in a 3 person dorm...Yeah, I'd say, you need just a little bit more space. The finances are rather expensive, what with it being a private school and all. A little too much for me, but from what I've seen, the lobby area of the dorm is always quiet, except for a rare couple of people here and there. The distance from the top of the hill to the Marian Hall is easily fixed with the buses. Personally, I walk whenever I stay over. It's acceptable over all.

Weather: Let's get one thing straight. We don't get legitimate four seasons here. Due to our location, the climate is only adaptable to crazy hot and nearly below freezing cold. Any sign of "snow" is rejected with hail crashing down in its place. During the regular school year, I find it a bit insufferable to go through classes when it's above the high 80's, and get irritable. My mood lightens up once I get in the building. The worst type of weather is the hot, sticky almost visible humid air that hits us during the daily fluctuating temperature in the "Winter" months of San Antonio. Students deal with the nuisance of changing their clothes quite often. It could be hot in the morning and cold at night. Or vice versa. It's hardly ever one consistent temperature throughout the day... except for HOT! You can count on that.

Athletics: No matter whether you're athletic, consistently working out, or just an average "every now and then" type of person, this gym provides excellent facilities. They Fitness Center (i.e. gym) is supplied with two work out rooms, one body building, and one cardio. It also has a separate stationary bicycle room for extreme bicyclist's, a tennis room, and a reasonable amount of space for basketball. I have been told the best technique to maintaining physically fit is using your body as the source of workout. Machines are great, yet that doesn't mean they are the best form of working out. The gym supplies reasonable amounts of equipment the students can use, but I feel there should be more natural working out equipment, rather than a bunch of machines.

Transportation: I find that the buses run at nearly all hours of the day. They are well-managed, always available, and the bus drivers give us great service. I often travel from the front of the campus to the hilltop dorms via the bus, with no problem. I believe they stop their services at 6pm. It's ideal considering it's getting dark, and the drivers have other matters to attend to. Over all, I can't find anything wrong with the transportation. Thank you!

Scholarships: the financial aid staff is more than willing to help with any little problem you have. they only want to see us succeed and don't want money to be a big issue so they do as much as they can to make it as smooth as possible.

The University of the Incarnate Word has so much to offer. From the academics and excellent professors to the life-long friendships, you will not look back and regret coming to UIW. Most of the students really enjoy their experience at UIW. The friendships formed here usually last through college and beyond. There are also more genuine friendships since UIW is a small school, and keeping in contact with fellow classmates is very easy because you see the same people almost daily. UIW is a very diverse school, so it is like a "small world." The memories formed at UIW are endless.

The education is top-of-the-line, as it thoroughly prepares each student to excel in his or her desired field of study. The smaller atmosphere allows for more personal attention for each student. The relationships between students and teachers is very strong, and professors know students by their names because of the low student-to-teacher ratio. Sure, you will hear complaints here and there, whether it be about residence life or the cafeteria food, but keep in mind that everyone has different tastes, and nothing is perfect. Overall, students are very satisfied with their education at UIW and all that it brings them not only while they are in school but after they graduate as well. Professors and advisers make sure that their students are more than prepared for their careers and for whatever life may bring in the future.
