Local Atmosphere: San Antonio – San Antonio is a busy city. There is alot to do. The only problem is you have to know what you want to do and where it is located.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Plenty to Choose from – There are plenty of restaurants surrounding the university; chinese, mcdonalds, ihop, taco cabana, waterburger, bill millers, sonic, a burger place, and many more.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: Great Student Center – Plenty to do and keep students entertained between classes; pool tables, x-box devices, card games, etc., are provided to students. It's always full of students who just want to hang out and meet new people. The library is very well equipped with plenty of computers and study areas (such as desks and couches). There is a coffee shop, and two main areas where you can purchase a meal (restaurants on campus).

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The people in the Financial aid office are really helpful in helping you find scholarships in order to pay your tuition. They are really nice and don't make you feel like a bother when you arrive there.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Well I personally am a comuter and find the parking situation a little annoying, but then again who doesnt. If you don't get here real early you will have to park in one of the garages and ride the shuttle to the lower part of campus where all of the classes are. the shuttles don't run all night.

4 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Well there are not any "frat" houses on campus. However the Greek life is clearly resident throughout campus. There is pretty much always some event or fundraiser that one organization is doing.

Parking: Parking in the morning is not bad. but for afternoon classes you have to make sure to get here early.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Sport Are Average – Varsity sports at UIW don't play a big role at the university. their facilities are pretty nice though.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: there are some parties but there small due to the fact everyone lives in dorms because apartments and houses cost alot in the area. but down town is about a mile away so were near the clubs and fun attractions.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: we have lots of choices, there is fast food and semi nice restaurants, like burger joints and other places. were also very close to the quarry where there are nicer restaurants, it just depends on what your in the mood to eat.

3 College Sophomore

Facilities: incarnate word is a beautiful school, the campus is old and you can diffidently tell. it needs some work. but they are trying to meet the needs of students there is gym but its a little out of date but they provide fitness classes like yoga, which im in and i love it. incarnate word also has many resources for students like a help center and tutoring.

Campus Strictness: Strict Rules – UIW has a strict policy when it comes to underage drinking and illegal drugs. I feel this makes our campus safe. However, the fact that you can't have any beer/alcoholic drink memorabilia in your dorm is a little too strict. In order to graduate, you have to complete 40 volunteer hours. This is part of the UIW mission, and is not that difficult of a task to complete since there is at least one community service opportunity once a week.

Local Atmosphere: Awesome Atmosphere – UIW is located in San Antonio, but you don't feel like you're in San Antonio. The campus feels like a little community where you belong. San Antonio has great weather, but it can get over 100 degrees a lot during the summer. There are a few restaurants located within walking distance of UIW. San Antonio has many attractions, such as the River Walk and Alamo that are fun to enjoy.

3 College Junior

Parking: The parking is reasonably fair regarding the student to parking space ratio. Of course the earlier the student arrives in the morning the better he or she will find a place to park. For the students parking far from class the campus has shuttles running through out the day for rides to parking garages.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Student Atmosphere – The student atmosphere is great. Every student is extremely helpful and more than willing to help no matter the problem. Student life is very vibrant and is always promoting school activities and campus entertainment.

4 College Junior

Facilities: All campus facilities are well kept and are made easily accessible to all students. Gym is very accessible all hours of the day, olympic style pool in their Natatorium building as well as a Olympic style track for running

5 College Freshman

Diversity: Incarnate Word offers education to a number of students. They come from hometown, other cities, and even abroad. If anyone comes here, they will most likely meet someone with a different background than themselves.

3 Recent Alumnus

Transportation: The Shuttles Are Good – Transportation around campus is good. There is a short wait if you miss one but it's usually not more than a few minutes until another shuttle comes by. The drivers are all very friendly.

Facilities: The Facilities are all really nice, it has some modern buildings and has some colonial style buildings. There are beautiful trees and flowers. All the buildings are really nice and reallly close together making it get to class easy and on time. The campus acitivities are awesome, there is always something going on. Its a fun campus and it gets very involved.

Academics: The academics at The University of the Incarnate Word are very diverse from Fashion Design to Nusing from Philosophy to Computer Graphics. At Incarnate Word, the teacher to student ratio is very good; we have more one to one teaching due to the small numbers of students in a class. We get to work closely with our teachers, if we have questions or need some extra help. The Fashion Program for me is really good, the supplies we need are expensive but I have learned a lot so far.

The University of the Incarnate Word has so much to offer. From the academics and excellent professors to the life-long friendships, you will not look back and regret coming to UIW. Most of the students really enjoy their experience at UIW. The friendships formed here usually last through college and beyond. There are also more genuine friendships since UIW is a small school, and keeping in contact with fellow classmates is very easy because you see the same people almost daily. UIW is a very diverse school, so it is like a "small world." The memories formed at UIW are endless.

The education is top-of-the-line, as it thoroughly prepares each student to excel in his or her desired field of study. The smaller atmosphere allows for more personal attention for each student. The relationships between students and teachers is very strong, and professors know students by their names because of the low student-to-teacher ratio. Sure, you will hear complaints here and there, whether it be about residence life or the cafeteria food, but keep in mind that everyone has different tastes, and nothing is perfect. Overall, students are very satisfied with their education at UIW and all that it brings them not only while they are in school but after they graduate as well. Professors and advisers make sure that their students are more than prepared for their careers and for whatever life may bring in the future.
