4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: There are 5 different places for food.Menus is totally awesome

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living in university of the Incarnate Word campus is extremely useful. Dorms are cheap, clean and close to our class rooms. Many students in the school usually prefer living in our dorm because friendship, activities and socializing are perfect.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Public transportation is quite common around the school but in San Antonio people prefer buying a car to drive to the school.Buses costs only 1.25 dollars so it is really cheap for students. Also, in our campus there are many buses pick us up and drop us off wherever we want around the school.

College Junior

Majors: I am an Accounting major. Because I signed up for the Accounting Society, I receive emails of open positions as well as contact information and so on for a position either on- or off-campus related to my field.
I plan on getting real world experience. It's very good to know the theory behind the work, but it is not very practical when it comes to filling out a client's tax return.

Campus Dining: There are only about five different place to eat on campus. There are a variety of choices, but anything from Sodexo is very expensive. If you don't have a meal plan, consider bringing a lunch a couple days a week.

3 Recent Alumnus

Academics: The classes are great but trying to register through the registrars is very difficult and time consuming.

4 Recent Alumnus

Academics: They have a very good program for International Business but they still need to work on making sure that the professors that they hired on a specific subject know has to describe it in a simple yet effective way to the students. Because some things take others longer to process than the rest.

3 Recent Alumnus

Transportation: The drivers of the shuttles on campus and very nice and willing to stop to pick up someone who is walking if they are headed in that direction. The shuttles come every 15 minutes but only one of them have handicap access.

4 College Junior

Facilities: There are many activities that are shared with students.

4 College Junior

Diversity: In the AdCap program there is a diverse group of students. The program I am enrolled in is geared at the working adults.

3 College Junior

Computers: Had issues at AdCap computer lab. IT dept. was usually able to correct issues.

3 College Student

Athletics: Im not so crazy about sports, other than the football team, we are pretty much amazing!!

4 College Student

Transportation: IN great reach, multiple drivers and shuttles to take you to your destination

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: attendancde is manadatory. so professors do take role.

3 College Sophomore

Computers: computer labs always have an open seat. busy during midterms and finals.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: the financial aid office is helpful and will try to help the best they can

3 College Sophomore

Academics: the major has most of the courses required and they all run together but its mostly a buisness degree.

5 College Freshman

Weather: It is always nice and sunny in San Antonio. If you hate the cold weather then San Antonio is the best place to go.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Mostly everyone drinks but I would say less than half of the students smoke. They smoke on there own time and would like to keep it private.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living in Joeris is nice because this is the newest dorm. It does have about a ten minute walk to classes on main campus. Agnese is the best dorm on main campus. Dubius would probably be next and then Colbert for girls and Clement for boys. Try to get Agnese if you can.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Everyone here is pretty cool. Guys are much easier to make friends with but typically that's how it goes. The girls are alright you just have to find some you get along with. Joining organizations or clubs helps you make friends easily.

3 College Freshman

Majors: I am part of the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Science and I really enjoy it. My advisor is really helpful. I always have access to help if I need it.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Everything is okay, but very rarely does it ever get better than just okay. No where on campus is open after ten, and there is only one place on campus open on the weekends, and it closes at eight.

1 College Freshman

Athletics: There isn't a lot of fan support, and our football team isn't very good. We are moving up to Division I next yea, though, and we are expected to perform better than we have been.

3 College Junior

Academics: I came to the University because of its reputation and so far it has lived up to the expectations. The class load is challenging but manageable. The professors tend to be very helpful and accommodating but as with any school their are a few exceptions(don't worry they do allow you to do teacher evaluations at the end of semester). The curriculum leaves room for you to take class you want in combination with classes you need. Registration can be a bit of a hassle but if you just keep trying you'll eventually get through. Also have some back up classes in case you can't get the ones you want.

The University of the Incarnate Word has so much to offer. From the academics and excellent professors to the life-long friendships, you will not look back and regret coming to UIW. Most of the students really enjoy their experience at UIW. The friendships formed here usually last through college and beyond. There are also more genuine friendships since UIW is a small school, and keeping in contact with fellow classmates is very easy because you see the same people almost daily. UIW is a very diverse school, so it is like a "small world." The memories formed at UIW are endless.

The education is top-of-the-line, as it thoroughly prepares each student to excel in his or her desired field of study. The smaller atmosphere allows for more personal attention for each student. The relationships between students and teachers is very strong, and professors know students by their names because of the low student-to-teacher ratio. Sure, you will hear complaints here and there, whether it be about residence life or the cafeteria food, but keep in mind that everyone has different tastes, and nothing is perfect. Overall, students are very satisfied with their education at UIW and all that it brings them not only while they are in school but after they graduate as well. Professors and advisers make sure that their students are more than prepared for their careers and for whatever life may bring in the future.
