Drug Safety: There are many students around campus who smoke cigarretes and it makes it difficult to enjoy being outside. It is surprising to see how many students smoke, one would think they would know the deadly consequences.

Off-Campus Dining: There are many restaurants located near campus as we are very close to the downtown area. However, some of the restaurant near the area can be expensive to dine at for a student because of the location of the university. However, fast food is inexpensive and a student can afford eating at any of the fast food restaurants near the area. Fast food restaurant are walking distance from the university, also there is a central market right next to the university.

Transportation: There is a bus stop right in front of campus. However, the shuttle bus are really slow and may take u to 20 mins to get picked up from your location. Also, the shuttle bus don't run after 8p.m. so if you have a class that ends at 8:45, you will need to walk to your car at night.

3 College Junior

Athletics: We have great facilities and a good amount of support from the school. Our trainers are knowledgable about the well being of our athletes. Overall the athletics in our school is great.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: The sports are actually doing quite well but with the new D1 league who knows if it will be the same next year?

5 College Freshman

Facilities: The history and the environmental awareness the English department promotes

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Everyone is genuinely nice and helpful if you need it. But there are the occasional people who just want to copy your homework

3 College Freshman

Parking: Parking is very difficult if you are a commuter because you and the teachers and students who live on campus are all competing for the same spots, which requires you to arrive to campus super early in order to get a decent spot.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Getting into my marketing major was real easy all I had to do was talk about it with my advisor.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: You will find all types of students on campus from lots of different places around the world and a lot of different religions. Very friendly people everywhere you go. Cute guys but can be a bit concided or really into their religious views.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: The only form of transportation is the campus shuttle

4 College Junior

Academics: I really enjoy the atmosphere and the campus. The classes are small which I like because it offers us a chance to get to know our instructors. The teachers are amazing and some go above and beyond to help us.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: There are several options but all of them are very expensive.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: The food is often greasy or fried. The vegetables they offer are often overcooked or undercooked and bland. These food that tastes the best is the unhealthy items like the desserts and pizza.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: Damp moldy smelling dorms. Ants, broken ceiling tiles and leaky ceilings in the Fine Arts Building.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: The food is okay. It is mostly a lot of junk food and you get tired of it pretty fast.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I could have received a lot more financial aid. Make sure you keep all of your forms.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I've never felt unsafe. We have a safe and beautiful campus.

5 College Freshman

Computers: There are multiple computer labs on campus! All function extremely well and are overall great.

Diversity: There are so many races and religions at UIW and there is no discrimination. I've actually learned more about other people and their cultures than I would have expected.

Parking: The permit is average cost. You can get ticketed easily.

4 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Geek life on campus is very much into the community and volunteer services. They hold plate sales and other fundrasing events to help the community and campus life.

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: I am not aware of any drug scene. I guess this would depend on who you hangout with and what type of individual you are. Drinking seems to be most popular on campus.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: The atmosphere are campus is positive and and lively. You can find student, facilty and staff willing to assist you with anything you may need. The layout of campus is easily accessible and well kept up.

5 College Senior

Guys & Girls: There is a wide range of personality and looks at UIW. The great thing about this diversity is that everyone knows everyone and gets along. There are countless social opportunities to take part in and meet new people. The athletics are a big social part, but even to non-athletes participate and mingle with everyone. For the most part, everyone dresses at their comfort level and no one is ever judged for wearing anything.

The University of the Incarnate Word has so much to offer. From the academics and excellent professors to the life-long friendships, you will not look back and regret coming to UIW. Most of the students really enjoy their experience at UIW. The friendships formed here usually last through college and beyond. There are also more genuine friendships since UIW is a small school, and keeping in contact with fellow classmates is very easy because you see the same people almost daily. UIW is a very diverse school, so it is like a "small world." The memories formed at UIW are endless.

The education is top-of-the-line, as it thoroughly prepares each student to excel in his or her desired field of study. The smaller atmosphere allows for more personal attention for each student. The relationships between students and teachers is very strong, and professors know students by their names because of the low student-to-teacher ratio. Sure, you will hear complaints here and there, whether it be about residence life or the cafeteria food, but keep in mind that everyone has different tastes, and nothing is perfect. Overall, students are very satisfied with their education at UIW and all that it brings them not only while they are in school but after they graduate as well. Professors and advisers make sure that their students are more than prepared for their careers and for whatever life may bring in the future.
