Parking: Good parking for morning or night classes but classes during the day, forget it

5 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: The drug scene here at UIW is very small. There are students that smoke cigarettes on campus, there are no students that drink openly on campus. Our campus does sell alcohol, but hardly anyone buys it. But there are not any students that smoke pot or anything else of that matter.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: The majors at UIW are pretty good. They have a wide range of majors and degrees to choose from and the internships there are just as great too. Teachers send out emails notifying students about upcoming internship meetings to let students know when to come out and sign up for them.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: The transportation at UIW is pretty good. Sometimes there are up to 4 shuttle buses circling the school (and our school is pretty small).

3 College Sophomore

Parking: Parking on campus is good if you have early morning classes or late afternoon classes. If you have noon classes, parking is usually bad. We have too many students and too few parking spaces.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living on campus offers many opportunities to meet and befriend new people and the proximity to classes is amazing.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Public transportation is usually reliable but ends around 8 so after 8 you have to walk everywhere.

2 College Junior

Campus Dining: I've heard the food at the all you can eat dining place is not so good. We have a Chick-fil-A on campus but it doesn't taste as good as from a normal one. It's not disgusting but its just not that great.

5 College Junior

Majors: Program isn't too hard, teachers are pretty good. They're good about notifying the students of internships/job offers.

5 College Junior

Health & Safety: I had my own personal concerns about my safety and the UPD was extremely nice and dependable. They will help you with anything you need.

5 College Junior

Diversity: There are many people from different countries and everyone gets along very well. The international students usually stick together though, but in my experience they have all been nice. Everyone is typically nice to one another.

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: There are 5 different places for food.Menus is totally awesome

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living in university of the Incarnate Word campus is extremely useful. Dorms are cheap, clean and close to our class rooms. Many students in the school usually prefer living in our dorm because friendship, activities and socializing are perfect.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Public transportation is quite common around the school but in San Antonio people prefer buying a car to drive to the school.Buses costs only 1.25 dollars so it is really cheap for students. Also, in our campus there are many buses pick us up and drop us off wherever we want around the school.

College Junior

Majors: I am an Accounting major. Because I signed up for the Accounting Society, I receive emails of open positions as well as contact information and so on for a position either on- or off-campus related to my field.
I plan on getting real world experience. It's very good to know the theory behind the work, but it is not very practical when it comes to filling out a client's tax return.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: There are only about five different place to eat on campus. There are a variety of choices, but anything from Sodexo is very expensive. If you don't have a meal plan, consider bringing a lunch a couple days a week.

3 Recent Alumnus

Academics: The classes are great but trying to register through the registrars is very difficult and time consuming.

4 Recent Alumnus

Academics: They have a very good program for International Business but they still need to work on making sure that the professors that they hired on a specific subject know has to describe it in a simple yet effective way to the students. Because some things take others longer to process than the rest.

3 Recent Alumnus

Transportation: The drivers of the shuttles on campus and very nice and willing to stop to pick up someone who is walking if they are headed in that direction. The shuttles come every 15 minutes but only one of them have handicap access.

4 College Junior

Facilities: There are many activities that are shared with students.

4 College Junior

Diversity: In the AdCap program there is a diverse group of students. The program I am enrolled in is geared at the working adults.

3 College Junior

Computers: Had issues at AdCap computer lab. IT dept. was usually able to correct issues.

3 College Student

Athletics: Im not so crazy about sports, other than the football team, we are pretty much amazing!!

4 College Student

Transportation: IN great reach, multiple drivers and shuttles to take you to your destination

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: attendancde is manadatory. so professors do take role.

The University of the Incarnate Word has so much to offer. From the academics and excellent professors to the life-long friendships, you will not look back and regret coming to UIW. Most of the students really enjoy their experience at UIW. The friendships formed here usually last through college and beyond. There are also more genuine friendships since UIW is a small school, and keeping in contact with fellow classmates is very easy because you see the same people almost daily. UIW is a very diverse school, so it is like a "small world." The memories formed at UIW are endless.

The education is top-of-the-line, as it thoroughly prepares each student to excel in his or her desired field of study. The smaller atmosphere allows for more personal attention for each student. The relationships between students and teachers is very strong, and professors know students by their names because of the low student-to-teacher ratio. Sure, you will hear complaints here and there, whether it be about residence life or the cafeteria food, but keep in mind that everyone has different tastes, and nothing is perfect. Overall, students are very satisfied with their education at UIW and all that it brings them not only while they are in school but after they graduate as well. Professors and advisers make sure that their students are more than prepared for their careers and for whatever life may bring in the future.
