3 College Junior

Drug Safety: It's there but I don't take part in it so I don't notice at all normally.

4 College Junior

Campus Dining: The food is getting better!

5 College Junior

Academics: I love everything about my major curriculum!

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: I feel my campus is very safe! I don't have to worry about anything. The health center is there, but some things they could work on.

1 College Junior

Parking: I don't drive, but the parking is terrible on campus! I feel bad for everyone who has to drive.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: There are a lot of country clubs, I feel like there aren't a lot of pop clubs that are for underaged students.

5 College Senior

Greek Life: We don't have "houses" but as a community, non-Greeks and Greeks are friends and can have events together with out feeling as an outcast.

5 College Senior

Overall Experience: The diversity of our student body, the enthusiasm of our professors, the opportunities for study abroad will always make me so happy for choosing UIW.

Local Atmosphere: I was born and raised in San Antonio, but I cannot imagine myself anywhere else as a college student, especially as a UIW student. We get incredible discounts on events, museums, restaurant meals, etc. It is one of America's biggest cities, but it still has that small-town southern hospitality.

Computers: I bring my own laptop to school. We have several computer labs, but it is hard to know which ones are available to students outside of the library. The library gets very crowded around midterms and finals; I don't like the stress of waiting for a computer when I'm already stressed about exams.

4 College Senior

Scholarships: I have not had too much problem with this, but I do know that any processes takes time and can become a headache at UIW. This is why I cannot give it 5-stars. I have had issues with holds on my financial aid for something that I had straightened out before.

3 College Senior

Nightlife: I don't live close to campus, but for those of you who do or will, UIW is not far from downtown. There are a lot of good bars and clubs in the downtown area.

4 College Senior

Guys & Girls: I feel that in general we are a very well-dressed and well-rounded population.

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The stubborn part is trying to find financial aid in order to actually pay for the campus.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Off-Campus housing is very easy to come in contact with because they are near campus.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Athletes have a great involvement within these campus.

2 College Sophomore

Parking: The cost of the permit is not worth it, because there is never parking on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: The atmosphere is nice and always sociable on a every day basis.

3 College Sophomore

Facilities: The campus activities and events are very fun and enjoyable. It also has some great events for the family to enjoy as well.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: The food at UIW is average, but the prices on campus are just ridiculous. They overcharge for about everything. Even on sauces if you ask for more.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Some students believe that the Greek system is not fair, but I have 2 friends in the Greek life and they love it. We don't treat each other differently.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Some of the students are unique in the way they dress and how they express themselves.

2 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Don't really feel uncomfortable on campus. Police are located close to center and walk around every know and then. Don't really feel it is necessary to be on guard at all

2 College Sophomore

Facilities: Very nice. Several places to hang around and talk or to study. Student center is a little small but is able to hold enough and location of workout facilities is nice.

2 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I like that the school is smaller and can get more attention from the teachers so I can get plenty of help on studying. The school has a really nice homey feel to it and has nice scenery as well. Only thing I would like to adjust would be the tuition but that's just me.

The University of the Incarnate Word has so much to offer. From the academics and excellent professors to the life-long friendships, you will not look back and regret coming to UIW. Most of the students really enjoy their experience at UIW. The friendships formed here usually last through college and beyond. There are also more genuine friendships since UIW is a small school, and keeping in contact with fellow classmates is very easy because you see the same people almost daily. UIW is a very diverse school, so it is like a "small world." The memories formed at UIW are endless.

The education is top-of-the-line, as it thoroughly prepares each student to excel in his or her desired field of study. The smaller atmosphere allows for more personal attention for each student. The relationships between students and teachers is very strong, and professors know students by their names because of the low student-to-teacher ratio. Sure, you will hear complaints here and there, whether it be about residence life or the cafeteria food, but keep in mind that everyone has different tastes, and nothing is perfect. Overall, students are very satisfied with their education at UIW and all that it brings them not only while they are in school but after they graduate as well. Professors and advisers make sure that their students are more than prepared for their careers and for whatever life may bring in the future.
