Off-Campus Housing: The campus is close to a big mall, there are lots of apartments nearby ranging from high end condos, to semi trashy apartments. Prices are around 550 a month

Drug Safety: If you don't get involved with people that party, or just don't go, while living on campus you will be completely in effected, but if you choose to find parties and drugs, you will easily.

College Freshman

Greek Life: I avoided anything to do with Greek life, my roommates are trying to get in (freshman) it doesn't seem to big of a deal, they frat guys are pretty nice, I don't think there's any bad hazing

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: There isn't much of a "community" atmosphere in the dorm building, some of them are old but have a nice homelike feeling to them, the newer buildings feel more like hotels. Everything is really clean, house keepers clean all the bathrooms weekly, there are lounges on most dorm floors with TVs

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: I don't have a car, but within walking distance we have Jim's, a barbecue place, central market (HEB), mc Donald's
Fairly close there's a water burger, walmart, HEB, jack in the box
There's also some nicer sandwich shops and a French bakery.
Prices are good, only a few have student discounts

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: There are developed places on campus to eat: general dining hall, chick fila/ convince store, Starbucks, and a cafe place
The staff at all places are really great, friendly, helpful, and caring

The University of the Incarnate Word has so much to offer. From the academics and excellent professors to the life-long friendships, you will not look back and regret coming to UIW. Most of the students really enjoy their experience at UIW. The friendships formed here usually last through college and beyond. There are also more genuine friendships since UIW is a small school, and keeping in contact with fellow classmates is very easy because you see the same people almost daily. UIW is a very diverse school, so it is like a "small world." The memories formed at UIW are endless.

The education is top-of-the-line, as it thoroughly prepares each student to excel in his or her desired field of study. The smaller atmosphere allows for more personal attention for each student. The relationships between students and teachers is very strong, and professors know students by their names because of the low student-to-teacher ratio. Sure, you will hear complaints here and there, whether it be about residence life or the cafeteria food, but keep in mind that everyone has different tastes, and nothing is perfect. Overall, students are very satisfied with their education at UIW and all that it brings them not only while they are in school but after they graduate as well. Professors and advisers make sure that their students are more than prepared for their careers and for whatever life may bring in the future.
