Transportation: Tyler has a great transportation system and I am not sure what the school provides. I think most people have or use cars to get in and around town. This is not a walking city but I do see people riding bikes more.

Off-Campus Housing: I did not go through the school, I already lived here and so I have lived in several different areas of Tyler. There are some areas to avoid but for the most part its nice and safe just about anywhere and pricing is about average.

Diversity: There is ALOT of diversity on campus surprisingly. People of all walks and ages and orientations. It is nice to be exposed to such diversity and have friends of different backgrounds - these are things we should expect to run into in our careers so its better to be exposed early and learn about people that are different than what you're exposed to in Tyler in general. Tyler itself is very conservative and religious.

College Senior

Campus Housing: I don't live on campus.

4 College Senior

Computers: Sufficient number of labs and computers available around campus - I have never gone in and not been able to hope right on one and the speed is definitely never a problem. Of course if you go around finals time, I hear it gets pretty packed.

Weather: The weather here is wonderful...if you don't mind it snowing one day and and wearing shorts and tank tops the next and the super high humidity :) but seriously other than that its very nice here most of the time.

Local Atmosphere: Tyler is a great city.

Off-Campus Dining: I have lived in Tyler for 26 years and there are a lot of great dining options throughout the city. It's a matter of exploring and trying things. Aside from not having a crazy night life, it is a very nice and pretty city with everything you really need.

Majors: I think it could have been more challenging for me personally but I think overall considering the average student in attendance it is a great program. Could use some adjustments and though it could have been more challenging, that's not to say I haven't learned a lot. Even if people can make decent grades without trying their hardest, those that do benefit a great deal from the knowledge of the professors.

Athletics: I think UT Tyler has a great athletic program. One of my best friends was on the women's basketball team this year and they went the furthest they have ever gone. It was exciting to attend the games and support our players.

Scholarships: I wish there were more scholarships available. I am not working and I make excellent grades yet the only scholarship I qualified for was a $1000 a year scholarship. For someone with no income and not dependent on parents, this is not enough to keep from having thousands of dollars in debt by the end of it all...especially considering the "okay" level of the program itself.

3 College Senior

Academics: I think UT Tyler is a phenomenal university, I just believe for myself personally that I have the capability to attend a more difficult and rigorous program through another school, but I do believe their business program is good. I just don't think all of the professors challenge their students to the level that they should. This is college. It shouldn't be a handout.

Diversity: You see a lot of different people on-campus and you also meet people from all around the world.

Nightlife: The nightlife is okay, because Tyler is a small city and it also used to be a dry county, which means that they weren't selling alcohol within Smith County. But there are house parties that you can go to and meet a lot of different people.

5 Recent Alumnus

Drug Safety: I never seen a student taking any drugs nor have I seen someone consuming alcohol on-campus. The campus is really strict on that, which I think is really good.

Off-Campus Housing: I personally life off-campus, and it literally takes me five minutes to get to school. There are plenty off-campus housings available. The cons are that you have to pay your utility bills as well as cable and internet cost. But therefore on-campus housing is more expensive but includes all utilities and high-speed internet.

Computers: The computers at the school are all updated and work really good. The school also gives you 500 pages for free to print out with your student ID.

5 Recent Alumnus

Academics: The professors at UT Tyler are really helpful and considerate. They are always willing to help a student, and take the time to discuss issues that a student might have.

Majors: UT Tyler is pretty lenient when it comes to admission. The academic advisors are amazing and do a great job on advising students to the best of their knowledge, to help them to walk on the right path. The admission office also helps a lot with the paperwork process and give you detailed information on what you will need to apply.

5 Recent Alumnus

Majors: I like my program a lot, because it has a lot of interesting classes that are required to take. Sometimes the workload gets heavy but it is manageable. They also offer internship for students that want to take one. UT Tyler works with certain companies to assign some students to work for that specific company.

Weather: The weather in Texas is great. It affects your campus activity in certain ways. People tend to be more productive and less stressed out when the weather is good. It also helps you to study better. My motivation is always at its highest peak when the weather is good. I strongly believe that the weather conditions play a major role in someone's life. Sometimes people get depressed when there are a lot of rainy days, which causes them to be less productive and less motivated.

Local Atmosphere: Tyler is a small city and therefore a close community. There are plenty of things to do as far as entertainment goes. I think that Tyler is a great city for the study purpose, because you can focus more effectively. The nearest biggest city is Dallas which is two hours away. Thus, if someone is trying to see something else or just to simply get out of town, Dallas would be the best bet.

Campus Strictness: Campus safety at UT Tyler plays a major role and it makes a student feel safe and secure on campus. The police officers are really nice and friendly. The safe environment that UT Tyler has focused on extremely creates not only security for the students, but also for their parents and relatives. I believe that schools have to be strict on certain things for the best interest of their students.

5 Recent Alumnus

Athletics: I personally like the team spirit that each team has at UT Tyler. Nearly every student is involved at some point with the different events that are held during the semesters.

2 College Junior

Nightlife: There is very little going on at night, aside from the occasional house party.
