Transportation: Since the university is located farther than where i currently reside

4 College Senior

Campus Housing: The amenities are great and the staff is always available for help

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: The buildings look a bit dilapidated. The staff is very helpful

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Nothing too obscene, as I have not witnessed the use of drugs and alchohol on campus.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Make sure you apply early for the financial aid you need.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I like the social experience of living on campus.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: The off-campus dining options to my knowlege are pretty good; much more desirable than the on-campus dining options.

College Freshman

Transportation: I am not familiar with the transportation options at my school as I live on campus.

Facilities: The faculty are great and friendly. I would continue to socialize with them even once I graduate. They are our mentors and will continue to strive us into the direction we want and to graduate.

Facilities: Everyone at UTPA is very helpful and understanding. They want what's best for us which is a education for a career.

Overall Experience: UTPA has brought me to new light. I started working with the school as a SA and chemistry stockroom personnel. At the PreMedBiologySociety, I met someone who was telling us about job opportunities whom I knew from my home town, and was able to work with them also, UTPA got me out of being a server at Olive Garden to becoming a worker in my field of study, science. I thank UTPA for my overall experience and great colleagues I have made over the year.

Guys & Girls: I believe everyone is well rounded and we all have the same interest of graduating and doing something great with our lives.

Campus Dining: I like the broncs cafe because of the variety of things to try, every time that I have gone, it has always been different. I love the pizza and create your own pasta dish.

Majors: I love the biology program. Although I hang out with chemistry majors, I like our talks and the fact that we want to go to med school when it comes to the valley.

Majors: I want to do internship but if its paid. It's hard to not work and be somewhere doing something great for your experience and resume.

4 Recent Alumnus

Parking: The only parking that is a hassle for class is the one near the baseball stadium. Also the fact that its a ten min brisk walk to class and if its scorching hot, will dehydrate you, as for my experience. Oh and wear sun glasses if you plan for a long walk.

Academics: I like the academic life. It is great to have people who want to help you. The professors like to see you stop by their office for help. At registration, it does not take long, only the line but they will give you an answer to your question. I wish they had more variety in physiology classes because in biology, their is more environmental classes,

Majors: It is not hard getting into programs, just maintain your GPA and everything will be fine, if you need help, their is the learning assistance center and the building have sessions to go to for help. I suggest study everyday at least a hour for each subject to keep things fresh.

Majors: The Billogy program because I like to work with things I want to do in life. I like the dissection because I one day want to become a cardiothorasic surgeon.

Drug Safety: Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are. The best quote you can hear. My life is about safety of myself and my friends. We do not take part in drugs and if we drink, it's on the weekend and in a mature manner, not to get drunk or do inappropriate things that can get you in trouble with the law.

Off-Campus Dining: Oh I love it. Compared to Mercedes, their is a huge variety that you will never get bored from it. I like places that are open really late, for the most part IHop and Denny's are near by for study nights. I like trying new things and I know I can not go wrong with going to new places.

Weather: I love the weather. And if it is too windy, the buildings are their to block it. I like the trails and sidewalks that lead to the open, I just wish they had more shade for the days the sun is at its finest. On days that it rains, is when it becomes a little difficult from walking to class.

Academics: I am currently attending school for my degree in Biology minor in chemistry. At times it can be difficult but possible. The methods of studying should be Continued for each semester and time management plays an important role. I currently work with UTPA as a SA and chemistry stockroom personnel and the lack of hours do not help me get by. I would like the opportunity to do paid research or acquire a position that allows me to work openly for 30 hours a week within my degree. Because I am a transfer student, I will be attending school for one more year for my residency upper advance credit hours. This is a struggle because I just needed one more semester. I understand they want me to live the bronc life so as long as I don't pass the 180 hour mark I will be fine.

Transportation: I would use the shuttle bus to get to school and it was always fresh. The metro bus that takes you from your city to school is free and has wifi networking which I think is great. Especially when you have homework you like to work in at any given time. Overall the transportation system is taken care of.

Off-Campus Housing: I have been to 3 different apartment complexes. Some are old and fair prices, but are difficult to live it. The Veradas is a very nice place to live in but the cost is too high and the people who live in it has to split the costs evenly with the other three which is not fair. I believe that each area should have their price. For example, one room utilizes the air conditioner at a lower use than the other, they should not be charged half. I have a friend who is dealing with that because she likes the temperature at 74 degrees but other students have it at 68. The only place I think they should split pay is the kitchen and laundry area, but the rooms and restroom should be split.
