Campus Strictness: It's okay, but they are very strict with parking, especially inside the campus. Only students with parking permits purchase for inside campus are allowed.

Campus Strictness: For me, school "police" or safety officers are just there to ruin your day. I understand it is their job and duty to protect and to serve the people but they take situations too far. My experience with them has been bad. Last semester I purchased a parking space. I put my decal on the windshield and I thought everything would be alright. Turns out some other day, I find a citation on my windshield. I had no idea why. Turns out, you're supposed to place your decal on the bottom middle of your windshield. Now when was this information really given to us students at all? When I purchased my decal, there was no instructions on how to place the decal. Another experience with the "police" was when I parked in a visitors parking because they had a printer in the dorms. I believe everyone is a visitor but it turns out that if you're a student, you're not supposed to park there. Where are all these rules coming from? I have no idea. At least put them on the school's cite. School "police" show no respect for student life and they don't look qualified to even give out tickets. They look and act like mall securities and their daily basis consist of riding their bike everywhere in campus, which include jaywalking, flirt with the college girls, and give tickets.

Campus Strictness: I find UTEP to be strict to their policies, but not in a bad way. They seem to keep it pretty simple, you follow the rules and conduct yourself accordingly or you don't. Depending on the infraction, there are different paths for recourse.

Campus Strictness: I have not personally witnessed anything illegal going on. I can say that the parking situation is very strict though.

Campus Strictness: It's okay, because some professors are really good and professional, while there are other professors that doesn't seem to care about their student or even their classes.

The University is not very demanding with rules around campus, with students driving through campus with ease. However, the campus police do not tolerate unauthorized vehicles on campus and issue fines to students that do not follow regulations. Alcohol on campus is regulated very well at UTEP, only peeking out when students have a case of orange fever and it's time to tailgate for football season. Besides this time of the school year, UTEP does not have any obscene dilemmas with controlling drug problems on campus.

UTEP does have a solid grip on attendance. Students that miss more than five days of class face a deduction of a letter grade on their final grade. Anything surpassing the average absence will result in an automatic failure, with students receiving an F in the specific course. When it comes to campus housing, visitors are only able to access the premises if they know someone living in the dormitory. The doors that allow access into the dormitory are locked by a magnet that may only be unlocked by residents. Overall, campus police are extremely helpful around campus, but they are always on the lookout for anyone coloring outside the lines.
