3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The dorm I am staying at is farther from my classes than other dormitories. The dorms are old and not spacious at all.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Many students go to downtown Austin to drink and consume alcohol and it is easy for them to do so. Also, sororities and fraternities are a big deal at my school and many of them host parties.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: The strictness is mediocre overall. The administration does care about attendance. The dorms are strict about alcohol and drug use.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I did not receive as much financial as I had anticipated. I also did not receive any scholarships and I worked extremely hard to get some.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The campus offers a program that escorts students around campus.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Many students are into the partying scene. There are many guys and girls who are stuck up. However there are some that are humble and always helpful.

5 College Freshman

Academics: The engineering program at my university is one of the top colleges the school has to offer. UT is somewhat known for it's engineering program. Although I am not in the school of engineering yet, I am working hard to get in. Many students want to pursue an engineering degree at UT.

5 College Freshman

Academics: The professors are always wanting to help students grow. The school offers tutoring everyday and many other options to help students succeed. There is always somewhere to go to study.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: There are always things to do on and off campus. Austin is the music city so there are always great concerts to go to. Many students also go to the lake. The food in Austin is great as well. There is always something to do.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: We have excellent school spirit. The games are extreme and there are always chants being yelled out. It is awesome. Everyone seems to love our school so much.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: The food isn't very good and the dining hall closes early.

2 College Freshman

Weather: The weather is extremely hot and humid.

Parking: Parking here is an absolute nightmare. I mean that in every sense. Pray to God that you can find parking anywhere.

Campus Strictness: I live off campus, but from what I here, the officers are pretty cool.

Overall Experience: It has been difficult, but my experience here is without a doubt one that will never be found anywhere else. This is an excellent university with even better people.

Drug Safety: It happens; at every college, students are going to do drugs and drink, but so far I have felt no pressure in having to do anything I was not comfortable with.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: You really have your work cut out for you when you come here. But every hour you put in is truly worth it.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: The workload is what really drives students insane here. It is a lot to handle.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: I do not eat on campus hardly ever, but when I do I really do not have a problem with anything.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I feel great while on campus! I really cannot complain about the safety here.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: The athletics here at UT are what truly drives students here. It is so great to be surrounded by passionate fans!

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: For the price that I am paying, I cannot complain. But the commute is killer. I wish I could afford something much closer to campus.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Everything is great don't get me wrong, but the pricing is what kills you.

5 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: It really does not get any better.. UT has the most attractive people I have ever seen.

Most students agree that they have loved their time here at UT, and they wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. College is the best time of your life, and I can’t think of a better place to spend it than at the University of Texas. Students get a great education while having an awesome college town with everything at their disposal. Don’t try to graduate early. Enjoy your time at UT—go cheer on the Longhorns at all the home games for all sports: football, basketball, baseball, intramurals. See the amenities that the Forty Acres has to offer—the Harry Ransom Center, go to our libraries and see our more than eight million volumes. Go to Gregory Gym and the Rec Center—you have a free gym membership for four years or more—use it.

I came to UT convinced that I was going to transfer to a school in California in the spring. I spent two days here before school started and I never wanted to leave, even to go home and visit my parents and high school friends! I couldn’t leave because I was always afraid that I would miss something because there was always something exciting going on. If you are worried about the fact that UT is so big, don’t. All you have to do is find your niche, and everything else should fall into place. You can find it within your dorm, apartment, organization, fraternity, sorority, or classmates. Although, at times, it may seem overwhelming, UT is not nearly as big as it sounds. All you have to do is make friends, which you will, and the campus will seem infinitely smaller. Come join us!
