Greek Life: It is a wonderful to meet new people and to network. I highly recommend it if you are coming to The University of Tennessee without knowing a lot of people.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: Lots of Greek life. Though in the past few years they have given the school a very bad name worldwide.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: I was in a professional sorority but avoided Panhellenic. If you want to go that route though, they just got a bunch of fancy houses.

If going Greek is something that interests you, going through rush is definitely something to consider. At the very least, you will meet people that you will see again and again throughout your college career. Through a Greek organization, you will be able to participate in philanthropies, parties, formals, and the many Greek events that happen throughout the year. If you choose not to do so, you will still have many opportunities at UT to keep you busy, and you will still be able to make many friends.

On paper, it may seem that the number of Greeks are relatively small, and they may not have that much impact on campus. As many students stated, most Greeks are very active and willing to participate in campus events. They, by no means, control everything, but the small percentage of Greeks at UT are very prominent and involved in many successful endeavors. Learn as much as you can about the individual chapters and Greek life in general. Talk with those who have chosen the Greek life, and ask plenty of questions. There is a lot you can do before going through rush to determine if it is for you.
