Athletics: Most of the students often attend athletic events and show a lot of school spirit by cheering on the teams no matter what.

Local Atmosphere: There is nothing quite like a mountain/river view.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: The freshman 15 is more easily attainable than ever

4 College Junior

Diversity: Besides maybe religion, the campus is quite diverse. I've come across my share of more conservative Christians, but that's expected in the south.

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Too many sorority girls for my taste (HaHa). But there are plenty. and many of them are great people.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Great atmosphere if you like football, but even if you don't there are plenty of restaurants near campus to hang out with friends with great deals for students.

4 College Junior

Majors: I love the staff of the EEB department. They all remind me of crazy scientist and gladly help out any student.

4 College Junior

Majors: I have yet to have one, but many of my friends praise it.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: The school takes pride in it's safety precautions. There are small devices set up throughout the campus you can easily access to alert police if you are ever in any danger.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: I manage with the hours and selection, of course it could always be nicer, but it gets the job done.

4 College Junior

Facilities: There's plenty of locations for small study groups on campus and the workout facilities are kept in great condition.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: I avoid fraternities, we tend to not see eye-to-eye on many topics.

1 College Junior

Nightlife: I don't enjoy large, loud crowds so I tend to avoid parties and hang out with groups of friends.

UT draws students from all over, and it is little wonder why. UT has a personality all its own. The level of pride and tradition here is among the strongest in the country, and the amount of support Knoxville has for UT is amazing, especially with sports. You will love the laid-back Southern style UT has to offer, and you will enjoy spending time with the people you meet here. Ask any UT alumni about their most positive life experiences, and I guarantee you that most of those experiences will have occurred at UT.

It is understandable to see how UT can appear intimidating on paper, especially to those coming from a small town. There are many different activities to become involved in, and they are yours for the taking if you are willing to make the effort and work hard. The key to success at UT, as well as any college, is to learn to manage your time properly. As long as you remember that education is the main reason for coming to UT and prioritize accordingly, you will be very happy during your college days.
