4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I have never felt in danger while being on campus at UTC.

2 College Senior

Health & Safety: I would not be caught dead alone at night. It's too close to downtown and there are virtually no emergency phones for help around campus. In addition to that, I never see security or cops.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I always feel safe on campus. The cops are friendly and willing to help.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Ive heard its okay. The facility is off of campus and normally its very expensive, along with students running it or taking care of things, which is a bit unnerving.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: Security on campus is good but robberies do take place here and there. Campus police is available around the clock to help walk students back to their dorms at late hours.

UTC has its own campus police unit located on campus in the Administration Building. Police are seen driving through campus at all times of the day and night. The security guards at UTC patrol the insides and outsides of the buildings at all times. Campus police are very quick about filing a police report and helping students in any possible way.

Overall, students at UTC feel safe on campus. Many reported that theft is the most frequent crime and advised students to always lock their dorm rooms and vehicles. Many students appreciate the UTC security guards and on-campus police, but some feel that UTC needs extra protection. UTC offers Mocs Express, which is a golf cart escort service for students who do not want to walk late at night to their dorms or who are too intoxicated to walk on their own. There are also blue-light emergency boxes located throughout campus. These blue lights allow students to automatically connect with the police department and tell the dispatcher the location of the student. Most students think these are the best campus security features.
