3 College Senior

Athletics: It's hit or miss here with sports. Some years we're great. Others, not so much.

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: It's all about your luck. You're either in Kennedy or in McKay. Anything in between is all the same.

4 College Senior

Nightlife: On and Off-Campus parties are popular along with bars in SoHo, Ybor, and Davis Island

4 College Senior

Majors: Relatively not difficult to get INTO the program. The problem is surviving in said program.

3 College Senior

Majors: I love my degree. It's difficult and insane, but I love it. It starts to dwindle down after organic chemistry II.

3 College Senior

Guys & Girls: You're options are: sorority, jock, or jersey shore.

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: The most typical crimes that occur are possession and underage drinking. We've got a couple of those "Safety Lights" around campus, but it's an overall safe-feeling campus.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: You've got your typical fast food chains on one end, and a few pricey restaurants on another. Take your pick.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: The closer you are, the more expensive it is.

4 College Senior

Scholarships: If you need it, apply. It's pretty straightforward.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: All the teachers are knowledgeable in the respective field and a lot of them have real-world experience that can be really helpful. Class sizes are relatively small so teachers really do get to know you.

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: Basically, you're in luck if you have some sort of marketing, business, or nursing degree. Otherwise, good luck to you.

Greek Life: Not being a member, I can't accurately account for it, but I know people both in and out of that social group and there really is no difference.

Facilities: The only thing I believe needs more improvement is to provide more study areas. They get really crowded, really fast

Health & Safety: Campus safety can be annoying when it comes to parking, but they are very good in regards to safety. They are diligent when a crime happens and do a very good job at notifying the students quickly.

Campus Housing: Your housing experience all depends on the hall you live in. If you live in one of the newer dorms you will have a better experience than if you are in one of the older ones.

3 Recent Alumnus

Scholarships: Its kind of frustrating that you can't move money around that has been awarded to you. The school gives out good scholarships that are academically based. Then federal aid will kick in if you qualify. Just check your bill constantly for any mistakes

Greek Life: Greek life does not have a major affect on the social atmosphere. There is a large Greek community, but it is not overpowering. There is no Greek Housing available.

Overall Experience: Overall, I love UT. At first, I was a little bit skeptical of this school since it wasnt my dream school, but I've come to love it and I'm really glad I chose UT.

Campus Strictness: The main thing the campus is strict about is getting caught with drugs/alcohol in the dorms if youre underage or in a dry dorm. Otherwise, its not too bad. The RA's dont want to write you up, they'll try to at least give you some type of warning first if youre being too loud or anything like that.

2 College Junior

Scholarships: Here's the deal. Whenever receiving any type of aid you need to talk to both the Financial aid and the Bursars office. I would say the Bursars office is more important. The issue I had with my financial aid is that they kept giving my family and I different figures every time I walked in. They payments were always greater than originally estimated. So. Talk to the Bursars/Financial aid office and talk to them often to make sure your ducks are in a row. You cannot expect them to do everything for you, you'll have to make sure your finances are in order.

Majors: Like I said earlier, I love being an economics major at UT. Its definitely a challenging major, but its worth it in my eyes. The professors are all at the top of their field and offer interesting electives. The facilities are really nice since its a business major, most of my classes are in the college of business, which is a really nice building on campus. The curriculum is rigorous and your workload will start to pick up around your sophomore year.

4 College Junior

Majors: A typical internship can be paid or can count for credits. Its easy to find an internship, we live two minutes from the financial area, so there are a ton of firms to intern for, regardless of your major.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: The only thing that matters in my mind about safety is how I feel on campus. And I honestly feel safe, I never worry about getting attacked or anything like that walking around campus. Every once in a while a student gets hurt, but nine times out of ten thats because somebody was walking back to campus by themselves at 3 am with a stranger. Just use common sense, and theres nothing to worry about.

Greek Life: I'm in greek life at UT so I obviously am going to give it a high rank. The only reason I say greek life is not the best is due to the fact that the administration will not and will never allow us to have any form of greek housing whether its a house or a wing of a dorm. I love being greek. According to our schools statistics the greek population has better grades than the non-greeks and a better 4-year graduation rate. We also raise a lot of money for our philanthropies. UT regulates greek life a lot so that can be a bit restrictive at times. Greek life isnt overbearing or anything like that at UT but we do have a presence. When it comes to non-greeks, some people love greek life, and some people think the greeks are just snobby, but you'll find that perspective everywhere. I highly recommend joining, its a great way to get to know people on campus

Of the many colleges and universities in Florida, the University of Tampa is one of the best places to study and enjoy college life. Not only is UT known for being a great place with high academic standards, but also the diversity and different cultures that are found here make the campus an enjoyable place to be. The amazing weather and location also help—thanks to the fact that Tampa is on the West coast of Florida. There is a wide variety of beaches within minutes of the campus. Also, the nightlife makes the University of Tampa a pretty attractive place for kids who are used to the city style of living.

The school spirit can be felt everywhere, and there is always something to do or an event to attend. Overall, the University of Tampa is a wonderful place to study and also to relax in between coursework. Once you're here, you'll feel like you're home.
