4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: There are some clubs but they are about 25 minutes away

4 College Senior

Nightlife: The party scene is decent. There are a fair amount of parties going on during the fall and spring semesters to go to.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Most parties end up being huge socials where people are talking louder than the music. Parties either have free alcohol and no dancing or alot of dancing and no drinks. The clubs are fun on weekends as long as it doesn't rain. The parties I have been to were pretty fun and nothing violent usually happens.

4 College Senior

Nightlife: The nightlife in South Tampa is my favorite. Bars are within walking distance from each other. Overall, I have had a very positive experience in this area.

Recent Alumnus

Nightlife: Not a big nightlife person.

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Tampa has countless venues that anyone can enjoy, regardless of what scene they’re into. Trendy students will enjoy the Hyde Park Café, and for everyone else, there’s New World Brewery. College students love Ybor City—a strip district of nightclubs, bars, and restaurants—that is about 15 minutes away from campus. Newcomers to the area are mesmerized by the lights, the sounds, and the people that walk the strip at night. Most of the clubs are open to people 18 years of age or older, but a good fake ID can get students into just about any club off Seventh Avenue.

Ybor is the big hot spot for dance halls and can be a fun night on the town. Unfortunately, it's not right next to campus, just a couple of exits down on the interstate, and it can get really rowdy in certain clubs. Most of the drinking scene is held in little hole-in-the-wall bars or house parties.
