University of South Carolina Reviews
Rating 3.87 out of 5 4,634 reviews
The campus is gorgeous. There is so much to do in town, you will never be bored! There are lots of great local restaurants to try. The sports facilities are amazing. The professors are highly knowledgeable and passionate. There is a lot of diversity in the student population. The university has an amazing social work program that I am thrilled to be a part of. Since it is in the capital, there are a lot of sights to see and history to learn about. The university has a very good international business program and it is great to see these students reach their potential to success. South Carolina also has the nation's top honors college which is a very prestigious honor. The students have tremendous school spirit and are always showing out for sports activities making the experience as fun as possible. The housing options looked very good and well maintained, students are equipped with everything the will need and more. There are lots of dining options on campus to choose from.
USC is a great school to attend if you are unsure whether where you would like to attend! It has great residence halls, lots of majors to choose from, over 500 clubs and organizations, many athletic events, seven dining halls, and much more. It is also located in the heart of downtown Columbia, SC so if you are looking for a college experience in a mid-size city, USC is the right choice for you! Aside from that, USC also hase many amazing resources that make your time here worthwhile. For instance we have two libraries with resources like the Student Success Center and Career Center that help you promote and maintain a stellar academic record throughout college. Along the lines of those resources, we also have a graduate advising center and undergraduate research center that help you plan your future in academia whether that be research, graduate school, or more. These are just a few of the myriad resources and benefits you experience when attending USC. This school is amazing!
If you are looking to go into Early Childhood Ed DO NOT COME HERE! I am in my spring semester of my junior year and I have taken maybe one class that I actually found valuable for when I start teaching. I have been in a classroom interactively with students for one class so far. Some of my classes this semester are finally in schools but we are only in the classrooms for about an hour or so. The professors that I have had, have been nice people but are totally crap at teaching, one of my previous professors even graded students on their opinions and not just as completion. I am hoping senior year is better than what I have experienced thus far, but I am not confident that it will. We should have been in classrooms with students since freshman year for at least one semester a year. No wonder there is a teacher shortage, future educators aren’t prepared to teach a class full of students who all have different needs that need to be met.
