My experience was very good. I had a complicated situation where I couldn't give parental information but I wasn't able to list as an independant but the financial aide advisors helped me work through and waived the information I couldn't provide to ensure I could get the help I needed for the cost of the school.
While U of R will definitely give you financial aid, they don't just hand out scholarships. You really have to deserve them.
They simply do not give enough aid.
Although Rochester is still expensive, I received $12,000 in scholarship money.
I had a bit of a problem with the financial aid office earlier this year. They lost a part of my paperwork that had to be turned in, so my student loan was delayed and I faced getting kicked out of school. They do their jobs, yes. But they also drop the ball. I've lost some faith in them, but I'm hoping this process will go smoother than last year's.
