Guys & Girls: Many of the guys here are shy but there seems to be an equal amount who are outgoing, albeit slighty more awkward than your usual outgoing guy. Lots of them are geeky, which I personally really like. Most guys are really sweet and will hold doors open for you, help you with your stuff (like when you carry big boxes at the post office), and sometimes offer you their seat on the bus. There are some insanely attractive guys who go to this school, from all different ethnicities. You don't have to look too hard to find someone you'll like here who shares your interests. I don't know about the dating scene but I think there are a good number of steady relationships that happen on campus, as well as some more casual relationships as well. There's something for everybody.

Guys & Girls: One of the first things my father said when he visited the campus for the first time with me during my freshman year was, "I'm not too worried you'll be distracted by boys. They're not all that great-looking." I kind of agree. At my school, the guys are probably more attractive personality-wise. Only afterward, I think, do you start to notice their physical attractiveness a little more.

Guys & Girls: Students at the U of R are "cool nerds." Most of them study really hard but still like to have fun. There is a lot of casual dating/hooking up that happens, but it is also considered normal to be in an exclusive/long term relationship. For the most part, people are relatively good-looking. A lot of students major in the Natural Sciences or Engineering. Some are typical East Coast preps, but most of there isn't a huge culture of that.

Guys & Girls: I dunno. I find many different kinds of people attractive, and my definition of attractive doesn't always fit with what's 'conventionally attractive.' Partying's a fairly big scene here so the hookup culture is here too. I also have several friends who are in committed relationships. Rochester's a very individuality-focused school, I think, so it's hard to generalize.

There is a geeky constituency at UR, seeing that it is a science-intensive school, but there are a fair share of attractive guys. Intellectually, there is a good chance of finding a guy who is not lacking in the brains department. The girls tend to be attractive and very put together, for the most part. They tend to be described in the middle scale of attractiveness. Everyone finds everyone else is friendly, so if nothing else, we all play well with others.

Because it is a school where all the students are on the same level intellectually, you will develop good relationships with people that are long-lasting. The only complaint of students is that both guys and girls tend not to approach others they don't know, so some maintain the people are unfriendly at UR. However, at parties, people will get friendly and get to know each other better. Whether they talk to you the next time they see you on campus is another matter. There tends to be a flurry in the beginning of the year in terms of hookups and relationships, and it calms down as the school year progresses. Both sides have their share of attractive ones, and if relationships don't blossom, there's always the view.
