3 College Sophomore

Weather: We live in New England so the temperature here varies and the weather fluctuates a lot. I wouldn't say that the weather affects my campus experience in such a negative way. There are busses that drive around campus so we always have the option of not walking around everywhere in the snow or rain. It is a bit inconvenient when that option does not apply due to timing or any other reasons, but overall, I would not say that our weathr is a downfall.

3 College Freshman

Weather: First few months its nice, then it gets cold, then its nice out. Its new england.

2 College Junior

Weather: I am very happy that we have Ripta to hop on in the winter to get to classes.

3 College Freshman

Weather: when there is snow, the paths are not cleared off at all and it is extremely dangerous

2 College Freshman

Weather: When it snows, the shuttles are not enough to transport everyone

The weather changes very often in Rhode Island, which sometimes can cause a hassle. The sunny days are beautiful, but the wind, rain, and snow make the weather a bit unpleasant from November to April. The good thing about being in Rhode Island and New England is that you get a chance to experience all four seasons. Even though students don’t spend much time here in the summer, they still get the opportunity to experience it through occasional heat waves in the fall and spring.

URI is about 10 minutes from the beach, and most students who live off campus are within spitting distance from the ocean. When the weather is nice, you can always find people making their way to the beach to hang out, go surfing, or sun themselves. Many prefer the warmer months simply because the ocean is so close. Students are accustomed to making the most of nice days because when the weather gets bad, staying inside is the smart play.
