Nightlife: For such a small town, there are a lot of choices.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: The bar scene is nice because there are three in a one block radius: Taylor's, Rennie's, and the Webfoot. Max's is also a short walk away. Taylor's is the probably the most popular and more likely to attract the people you hate, while the others are more laid back. The bars in the downtown area are more geared toward the older crowds.

Nightlife: Honestly I don't go to many parties so I can't really attest to this.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Don't seek out the party scene.

Oregon students love having several bars just a stroll away from campus. Taylor’s Bar & Grille and Rennie's Landing have always been student favorites. Overall, Taylor's is far more fitting for the Greek crowd, whereas Rennie's is more diverse and laid-back. However, the club scene in Eugene is practically nonexistent.

Many places in Eugene cater to students and the college population. The bar scene really is for a 21+ crowd, unlike some other schools that may not be so strict on IDs. In this case, house parties and kickbacks are constantly going on. Freshmen tend to hang out in dorms to pre-game, and then head out to the house parties or frat parties. Simply walking around the neighborhood, you will see a lot of the student population roaming around. Although bars and house or frat parties are frequent aroung Eugene, the lack of clubs and the 90-minute drive to Portland makes for a less-than-ideal atmosphere. The town could really use more nightspots, and house or frat parties only go so far to compensate. If you have a good group of friends, you can make the nightlife really fun. It is what you make of it.

Different clubs, sports teams, and organizations also throw parties. You can usually hear about these through Facebook, fliers on campus, and word of mouth.
Did You Know?
There are currently three UO student cooperative (co-op) houses on campus. These houses usually throw parties quite often.

Bar ListingsWhat's This?

Taylor's Bar & Grille

Every student at the UO knows what Taylor's is, and they can easily point you in the right direction. Located across the street from campus, Taylor's has been around since the 1930s and is easily considered the hottest spot for college students. Although the Greek crowd can occasionally dominate the scene, Taylor's offers a sexy atmosphere with great music and even better drinks.

Oregon Electric Station

At the Oregon Electric Station you'll find much more than the college atmosphere in a toned-down setting. The drink menu is extensive, and the atmosphere is classy, but if you're looking for a hot night of dancing and debauchery, this isn't the place to be. For a first date or a more intimate place to drink, however, this is just where you want to go.

Rennie's Landing

The second-most notorious bar for students, located just off campus. Rennie's has survived through the decades in a constant civil war for attention with Taylor's. Rennie's offers a more spacious atmosphere, outdoor seating, and a more diverse crowd than that of a place like Taylor's. For a hot atmosphere and strong drinks, Rennie's is packed on the weekends.
