4 College Junior

Nightlife: I'm excited to go back this fall!

2 College Junior

Nightlife: The parties on campus and close to campus are great, the bars and nightclubs are NOT exciting.

4 Recent Alumnus

Nightlife: There are a lot of different bars all over Eugene , all are different and so there is something for everyone

3 College Senior

Nightlife: I believe that parties can be a wonderful place to be socially productive. They can be a place where you can network, however, all I have ever heard or seen at parties are vulgar language, and rude drunk people. Sexual assault is very prevalent on campus, and it is taken seriously. The night life in town however is very good with a lot of options.

4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: The school usually holds international night and Chinese New Year these big events in the biggest ballroom. All events are optimistic and positive.

Oregon students love having several bars just a stroll away from campus. Taylor’s Bar & Grille and Rennie's Landing have always been student favorites. Overall, Taylor's is far more fitting for the Greek crowd, whereas Rennie's is more diverse and laid-back. However, the club scene in Eugene is practically nonexistent.

Many places in Eugene cater to students and the college population. The bar scene really is for a 21+ crowd, unlike some other schools that may not be so strict on IDs. In this case, house parties and kickbacks are constantly going on. Freshmen tend to hang out in dorms to pre-game, and then head out to the house parties or frat parties. Simply walking around the neighborhood, you will see a lot of the student population roaming around. Although bars and house or frat parties are frequent aroung Eugene, the lack of clubs and the 90-minute drive to Portland makes for a less-than-ideal atmosphere. The town could really use more nightspots, and house or frat parties only go so far to compensate. If you have a good group of friends, you can make the nightlife really fun. It is what you make of it.

Bar ListingsWhat's This?

Taylor's Bar & Grille

Every student at the UO knows what Taylor's is, and they can easily point you in the right direction. Located across the street from campus, Taylor's has been around since the 1930s and is easily considered the hottest spot for college students. Although the Greek crowd can occasionally dominate the scene, Taylor's offers a sexy atmosphere with great music and even better drinks.

894 E. 13th Ave.

(541) 344-6174

The Webfoot Bar & Grill

This is a new bar right off campus. It's good for watching games and just having some drinks with friends.

839 E. 13th Ave.

(541) 505-8422

Wild Duck Brewery

This is an excellent place to come to sample some of the greatest beers. The atmosphere is perfect for an intimate date or to just hang out with some of your buddies.

725 W. First Ave.

(541) 485-2250

McMenamin's North Bank

Primarily a seafood restaurant, this is a chill place to come get a few good beers in you before the night begins. Open only until 11 p.m. during the week and 12 a.m. on weekends. Come early, and enjoy the beer list.

22 Club Road

(541) 343-5622

Oregon Electric Station

At the Oregon Electric Station you'll find much more than the college atmosphere in a toned-down setting. The drink menu is extensive, and the atmosphere is classy, but if you're looking for a hot night of dancing and debauchery, this isn't the place to be. For a first date or a more intimate place to drink, however, this is just where you want to go.

27 E. Fifth Ave.

(541) 485-4444

Rennie's Landing

The second-most notorious bar for students, located just off campus. Rennie's has survived through the decades in a constant civil war for attention with Taylor's. Rennie's offers a more spacious atmosphere, outdoor seating, and a more diverse crowd than that of a place like Taylor's. For a hot atmosphere and strong drinks, Rennie's is packed on the weekends.
