5 College Sophomore

Computers: I've never had any problems. Printers in some dorms can be unreliable but there are printers all over campus, so you don't need to bring one.

5 College Freshman

Computers: Printers are very accessible and I have not had trouble with the wireless.

5 College Sophomore

Computers: We have amazing technology options. The university sure keeps up to-date technologically. There are computer clusters all over campus (both Mac and Windows) and printers in each dorm

4 College Junior

Computers: No major complaints. Wish we had smartboards or at least dry erase boards in the classrooms but it's mostly chalk.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: Internet access anywhere on campus, and good tech support.

A few words of wisdom to all you procrastinators: if you have a project due during finals week that requires completion in a computer cluster, make sure you have a gallon of coffee in hand, because you'll need it just to stay awake while you stand in line. Although Notre Dame provides nine computer clusters, four of which are open 24 hours a day, students agree that trying to gain access to a computer during midterms and finals week is a very difficult task. During the rest of the school year, however, most of the students say the network is fantastic. Probably the favorite aspect of the network is the speedy Internet service in both clusters and dorm rooms. While everyone says that it's not impossible to survive without your own computer, having your own is highly recommended. After all, it's so much more fun to Instant Message friends from the comfort of your dorm room than a computer lab.

Although there is no way to argue against the freedom, convenience, and comfort of privacy that comes with having your own computer, the number of computer clusters, the existence of clusters in dorms, and the availability of Internet access in dorm rooms makes Notre Dame's computer network highly efficient. Just remember that it will be hard breezing in and out of computer labs during mid-terms or finals.
