3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: The dining alls have weird hours during the day, and most of the other places available to buy food from are fast food places.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: The dining halls have good and bad days. They are especially good on game days, which can be expected because there are so many people on campus. Au Bon Pain is the best alternative to when the dining hall has a less than desirable menu.

Campus Dining: Best part of my day.

5 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Better than my food at home.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Because the school mainly attracts midwestern students--the food is pretty basic. There are a lot of corn-based meals with meat on the side. Finding light things is often difficult, as is variety of cultural foods. However, it gets you full and that's pretty much all you need. There is also a grab-and-go option from the dining hall where you can get food to go during the week, if you're in a hurry.

In a darkened corner of Notre Dame's dining halls lurks a small section filled with the odor of mystery ground meat, fake taco shells, melted cheese, shredded lettuce and tomatoes-the Mexican food section. It seems that not even this shadowy area of campus dining is lacking in student praise. Notre Dame students are very fond of their dining halls, particularly South, because of the variety of foods that they are able to find. Mexican, Chinese, Italian, and American food are just some of the choices available. And, while some students grow tired of the food selections in the dining halls, they find the small on-campus chain restaurants an equally appetizing "Plan B."

Although you may be able to predict the week's main food choices after a while, the contrasting food sections found in both North and South Dining Halls grant students the freedom of exploring their culinary creativity. Combined with the generous meal plans, which range from 14 to 21 meals per week, meal points can be used at campus restaurants, in vending machines, and for "Grab-N-Go" sack meals. The variety of food at the dining halls gives Notre Dame a grade that most cafeteria lunch-ladies can only dream about.
