Athletics: We have a great football team (and pretty much everyone goes to the games). The facilities for non-athletes are great too, as we have a pool, an indoor track, a huge weight rooms, a ton of courts, and much more.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: We have two really nice gyms/workout facilities. Our library is world-renowned, and there is up-to-date technology used in the classrooms.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: The student life at Notre Dame is truly unique. Tradition, game days, the life in the dorm, and even a modest Catholic presence on campus is great.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: Philosophy major is the best. It sets the foundation for critical thinking and has proved many intellectual and spiritual benefits so far.

College Freshman

Greek Life: Notre Dame has no official greek life. Every dorm is like its own fraternity or sorority, since the dorms are single-sex.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Notre Dame itself is a very hard school to be accepted to, but once you are in, the possibilities are endless.

Majors: I just recently switched to an English major, and I am very excited for it. It's hard to decide what major you should choose if you don't exactly know what you want to be when you grow up.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: I really do not go off campus that much.

Campus Dining: The dining alls have weird hours during the day, and most of the other places available to buy food from are fast food places.

5 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Notre Dame is very strict when it comes to their rules. We have to follow parietals, which are a set of rules that says the opposite gender must be out of the dorm by midnight during the week and by 2 in weekends. It's great.

College Freshman

Parking: I do not have a car at Notre Dame, so I really do not know much about the parking situation.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: There is a lot of partying at Notre Dame, but you definitely do not have to take part it in. And you definitely do not feel left out or anything if you are not a partyer. I found a huge group of friends that do not party and we find fun stuff to do on the weekends other than party.

Academics: My biology major was terrible. It was so much work and so time consuming. As a college freshman! I don't even know exactly what I want to do with my life yet.

5 College Freshman

Academics: During orientation weekend, they told us that they would make sure we fail. They were telling this to a group of students who have never earned anything but an A their entire lives in school. We were all thinking that they were crazy. Well they were not. They did make us fail. A lot.

Health & Safety: I do not like to walk around alone at night. I think Notre Dame could use some more lights around campus for at night.

Campus Housing: The dorms can be small and they are single-sex, but there is a phenomenal sense of community.

Transportation: The taxis will come to your specific dorm, and the bus to the mall picks you up at the library. The buses are free with your ND ID.

Off-Campus Housing: There are tons of off-campus options. Some are pricy, but really nice and close to campus. There are cheaper options that are close to campus as well.

Computers: The wireless is usually pretty good. It can be slow at prime times when most people are using the internet, but overall it is pretty fast. There are numerous computers labs, but have your own computer just to be safe.

College Sophomore

Greek Life: We don't have Greek life. Our dorms serve as pseudo sororities and fraternities.

Parking: Getting a parking permit is somewhat expensive, but that is used to deter you from having a car on campus. The parking lots aren't close to most the dorms.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: The dining halls have good and bad days. They are especially good on game days, which can be expected because there are so many people on campus. Au Bon Pain is the best alternative to when the dining hall has a less than desirable menu.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: There are tons of majors, so you can definitely find one that suits you. The Career Center as well as your advisors and counselors in your major can help you find internships or research opportunities.

Majors: I haven't had an internship yet.

Local Atmosphere: South Bend has some troubled areas. The bus is free to students and you can pick one up at the library that will take you to the mall. University Park Mall is pretty good, and there are other places nearby in Mishawaka. Many of the locals don't really like the Notre Dame students, but some still go to the sport events.

"Wonderful," "amazing," "special," "family"-these are the most common words that students use to describe their times at Notre Dame. The University has a unique atmosphere that is embraced by many; the campus is basically self-contained, the dorms are all very close-knit, and there are truly strong connections between students. While the weather may test your survival skills and the administration may try your patience, the Notre Dame experience is unlike any other you'll ever have. The school's tradition and history create an environment where you'll feel welcomed the moment you step foot on campus.

Notre Dame is not an easy school, and it's important to remember that academics are huge. Above all else, you need to be willing to study and focus, or you're not going to make it through the University's workload. Students here are universally dedicated to their studies, and campus life reflects it. This is not a party school. Students may find themselves frustrated by the value system or the lack of outside activities. The best recommendation for Notre Dame is to visit and check out campus life firsthand. Often, the atmosphere alone is enough to sway your feelings one way or the other.
