5 College Freshman

Nightlife: Nightlife is so much fun! The bars are soooo fun and the house parties are extremely fun. The cops are lenient as well, but also making sure that everything is safe and people are okay.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Off- campus housing is pretty cheap here compared to a lot of other schools. I liked living in the dorms my freshman year, but I can't wait to live off- campus. I feel like UNI accommodates to off-campus housing pretty well.

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: I have never felt not safe on campus nor have i every felt pressured to do something I didn't want to. It's a fun party scene on the weekends, but drugs usually stay off campus and away from the crowds.

5 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: There is a variety of many different types of people which make UNI unique and fun. You can meet new people every single day and there are many clubs that fulfill the interests of every student.

Local Atmosphere: I love cedar falls downtown. There is always things to do for students and Cedar falls is pretty much in the middleish of Iowa so it's easy to travel to other places if need be.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: UNI provides many students with discounts and the businesses themselves have nights where students can eat at a discount.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I didn't get very much financial aid, but the process was great and the financial aid department here is so helpful at showing you how everything works.

4 College Freshman

Computers: There are computers in every single building which anyone can use. I have my own laptop and it's much more convinient, but if you don't have a computer you are definitely okay.

5 College Freshman

Transportation: There is a bus that goes around all the time. People often walk or ride their bikes to campus. There is also a bus that goes around town so if students don't have a car that is definitely an option as well.

Overall Experience: I love everything about University of Northern Iowa. It is a small university so it makes you feel like you are at home 24/7. Everyone is so friendly and the professors really want to see everyone exceed.

Off-Campus Dining: i dont go to the school yet

College Sophomore

Majors: i will be starting school there in the fall so i have not experienced it yet.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: you just have to have the right classes and gpa to qualify

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I enjoy being in the program because it offers a broad sense of everything and is challenging at the same time. There's no heavy focus on any one certain area so it gives you good skills in a lot of areas. The workload and be heavy at times but staying focused and doing your homework every night it very possible. There are several internship opportunities available as well as job offers once you have graduated.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: Getting into the program was fairly easy you had to have a 2.5 GPA and you had to have taken certain classes to be accepted. As long as you keep your grades up and take all the core classes you will do fine with getting accepted into the program.

Academics: The registration process is often very hectic. If you don't get to register on the first day there is a good chance you will not get into some of your classes. They don't allow all the seats to be filled so that makes it difficult when there are ten open seats and the class is closed. The university is known for business and education majors.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: For the amount of people that live off campus there isn't a whole lot of spots for these people to park. I often time find myself driving around waiting for somebody to get done with class so I can take their spot. The police are always on the lookout for people who park in the wrong lots and wont hesitate to ticket you. The need for a car on campus isn't a pressing need because its a small campus and they have buses that can take you almost anywhere.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: The police do not do much on the campus other than look for parking violators. There isn't a whole lot that happens on campus so they aren't need a lot for protections purposes. The campus has help stations around so you can press the button and they will be there within one minute. The campus is very safe and no one really complains about being scared.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: There are several computer labs in every building and therefore there's always a computer open somewhere. Printing on campus is free and you can print as much as you want so that's a plus. You do not need a personal computer or printer because you can access one at school relatively easy.

College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I'm not too sure what the housing situation is like because I live off campus. From what I've heard its generally pretty good other than there's no air conditioning so the building do get pretty hot. All the building are pretty close to all the building so going to class is no more than a ten minute walk.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: A lot of the people dress pretty normal, nothing too fancy but nothing that's too bad either. Some people smell bad but the majority of them smell normal. Most people find relationships while living in the dorms and just being stuck together for so long.

3 College Sophomore

Facilities: The opportunities at the university are small compared to a lot of other universities but it's not a large school so therefore you cannot expect a lot to be offered. The people are generally nice and inviting and everyone seems to get along. Most people are from smaller towns so they think its a bigger town but its still pretty small with not a whole lot to do on the weekends.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: The local town of Cedar Falls is decent in size. There are many places to eat but not many attractions. There is a small mall just 3 miles away from campus if that. It is a very safe town. There is a hockey team called the Blackhawks who play out of Waterloo but other than that, there are no sporting events besides on campus.

3 College Freshman

Computers: There are many computer labs on campus including right in the dorms. I have never had a problem finding an open computer in any lab. The printing is great but it is only in black and white. The Wifi on campus is very slow and often lacks service. It is not necessary to have a computer here, however it is nice to have one in my room for social purposes and watching movies and Netflix.
