Facilities: Inside Scoop – The thing about UNCC is that people there are very friendly. I felt really welcomed when I started there last fall. The professors are great and really patient. The workers in the financial aid building are really helpful. I love it at UNC-Charlotte.

Overall Experience: Life on Campus – Life on campus at UNCC is great. I love it here better than my previous college. there is so much to do on campus you would never get bored. There is plenty to do especially in the student union, which has a movie theater and the different places to eat & Starbuck's which I love so much. Best school ever!!!!

Academics: Criminal Justice Program – I am in the Criminal Justice program at UNC-Charlotte and as a transfer student I am learning more here than I was at my previous college. I am very satisfied with the program and I'm glad I can be apart of the school as well as the program. I'm not just a number at UNC-Charlotte, I'm a student there.

Local Atmosphere: Charlotte is a nice city. UNC-Charlotte is near Uptown Charlotte, which has many restaurants, clubs, shopping centers, grocery stores and two major malls.

Academics: There are many different services offered at UNC-Charlotte that help students academically. There is the Writing Center which helps students with writing essays, research papers, etc. There is the Math Lab, Tutoring services and so much more.

Academics: Business Account Major – I am a student in the Belk College of Business at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Throughout my years of being a student in the Belk College of Business I have been very pleased with my Academic Advisor for helping me stay on the right path with my courses. The workload is a lot and challenging but very worth it.

Diversity: If you want diversity, this is it. Many people and also a lot of international students.

1 College Junior

Campus Dining: Truly Awful – The dining halls are gross. The restaurants on campus in Prospector are pretty good though!

2 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Campus Police – Although not a dry campus, they are pretty strict about alcohol here. 99% of parties occur off campus, so campus police don't have a lot to do except bust people. You definitely can't walk around with open containers.

Athletics: 2013 will be the first football season at UNC Charlotte, and everyone on campus is very excited for tailgating! The stadium is being built, and they also built new Rec fields for other sports.

3 College Junior

Academics: UNC Charlotte might not have the prestige of other North Carolina schools, but the professors are great and you can get an excellent education if you work hard. It has one of the best business programs in the state, and there are tons of internship opportunities in the city. They are also rapidly expanding the engineering program, which already takes up 1/3 of the campus buildings.

Off-Campus Housing: I don't live in off-campus housing but I know of plenty of apartments that are very close to campus (within walking distance). The cost is pretty high but in the long run having an apartment off-campus might be better than living on campus price-wise.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Highrises at UNCC – I love the convenience of living on campus. The freshman dorms aren't terrible. There is no soap or any hand drying devices in the bathrooms of the Freshman dorms (Sanford Hall, Moore Hall, Scott Hall, Holshouser). The cost is somewhat reasonable.

Academics: Nursing Major – The Nursing program at UNCC is very competitive but I believe that the requirement of Organic Chemistry and having to make a B or higher in that class is utterly ridiculous. It's a "weeding out" class that is completely irrelevant to the Nursing major. Other than that the class requirements seem reasonable as well as the workload.

Weather: UNCC does not get much snow. Only once this year there was enough snow to cancel classes. I would say the weather is very good in Charlotte.

Transportation: You can take city buses into campus, they are reasonable priced. The parking permits for on campus parking is way too much in my opinion (over $300 per year). UNCC has free trollies that take you around campus. You can also call Saferide which will pick you up anywhere on campus and bring you anywhere on campus for free.

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: Very Diverse – UNCC is very diverse. I really dont care about diversity though.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Authority at UNCC – I give campus strictness a B plus which is just how I like it. Whenever something serious happens the campus police notifies everyone by email of the incident. The only time campus police are really active are late at night, around 10pm an later because they know that's when people let loose. Majority of the security guards and police are cool to talk to. For some reason they are REALLY strict about the speed limit...

Nightlife: If you are a sociable person and like being around people, there is ALWAYS something to do at UNCC. On campus house parties and social gatherings are always going on somewhere. It just takes a few people with a goal and ambition to make it happen. The Greeks are always hosting some club event and certain nights you might get a discount or get in free with college ID. There is even a shuttle that comes to campus that takes you to the club. There are also other activities such as midnight breakfast, Union takeover(free games, food, activities, and chances to win money), open mic nights, and so much more!

Academics: There are plenty of interesting courses to take at UNCC and they also have a wide range of majors and minors. From your basic general education classes to gender based classes such as women's studies to fun classes like Disney and Literature, UNCC has it. The registration process is fairly simple and the professors are typical. They aren't mean but they aren't your best friend.

Transportation: The Trolley and Safe Ride on Campus – The trolley runs monday through friday during class hours. The trolley can be a quick trip over the large campus, but it can run extremely late at times. On average, it should take the trolley about 15 minutes to make a full round, according to its schedule. However, this is not always the case, and it can be quicker to just walk to your destination. Safe ride opperates all week during certain hours. You may call safe ride to have them pick you up and take you to a certain destination. It is intended to help give students a safe ride to places on campus, if the do not feel safe. The only thing about safe ride is if you do not call them ahead of time, seeing them in front of you, you can not get on that ride, and you'll have to wait until they come back.

Drug Safety: The Alcohol and Drug Scene at My School, to My Knowledge – I don't recall ever seeing any drugs or alcohol out in the open. I have heard tales of many people drinking on campus and a few resulted in students going to the hospital. Once in a while I'll hear about someone who got caught with marijuana, and I have come across someone who deals it. I don't know about the cost at which he does this, but I do know he was eager to sell. However, the Resident Advisors made it quite clear that if they were to see any alcohol, it is an immediate write up. If you are suspected of having drugs, the campus police are called to search your room, so the university does not stand for such acts.

Local Atmosphere: How Safe I Feel on Campus – For the most part, I've stayed on campus most of the school year. The only exceptions include trips to Wal-Mart, Target and a couple fast food places down the street from the campus. During my time on campus, I talked to a few people who live in Charlotte and they described the area that the campus was located in as "a weird part of town". I do admit, many police cars can be heard in areas close to the campus, however, I feel quite safe on campus. The police that are on campus can be seen routinely, and at night there are many lights to keep the main paths lit. So overall, I do feel safe.

Weather: Consistent weather. A week of warm days followed by a week of average, potentially overcast weather. The first three days of the 2011 spring semester were cancelled because of a snow-in but this rarely happens.

2 College Sophomore

Athletics: A Transit College Without Spirit – On campus there is not a large feel of school spirit. This can be seen by the low attendance at sport events in the Student Activity Center. The school is expected to have a football team in 2014, however the basketball teams and track teams don't aren't very big. All of these facts are due to the fact that this college is largely a commuter school which takes away from the school spirit that might have been stronger if everyone stayed on campus. This is made up for with the state-of-the-art work out rooms in the lower floor on of the Student Activity Center and the pool in the Belk Gym.
