3 College Junior

Health & Safety: I never felt like anything was being done to enhance safety and security on campus as much as things were being done to increase surveillance much like the rest of Charlotte.

Academics: Being in the Anthropology program was a completely different experience from everything else on campus. It seemed to be the only place with a provision of people with open minds, willingness to work with students, and a passion to really help those who were serious about the program. I really have nothing bad to say about the Anth department and their majors, except that I felt a little under challenged at times.

Academics: I never felt a huge challenge in any of my UNCC courses.

Campus Strictness: The queen City in general itself is not very liberal. So of course the universities (including UNCC) aren't either...

Academics: I am a nursing major and so far I love it. The College of Health and Human Services has all of my advisors in it. I am in classes with many of the other nursing students so it's often easy to form study groups or ask them questions I may be unsure about that pertain to the schoolwork. Anytime an internship opportunity arrives, they post flyers in the building and send us emails about it letting us know how to apply. The workload is heavy, but that's any nursing program at any school.

Transportation: Everything you need is right here on campus. If there is something you need that you can't find on campus, we have a harris teeter and a target less than 5 minutes away from campus.

Campus Dining: Dining on campus is very nice. We have two big cafeterias, one on each side of campus. But if you get tired of eating there, we have Bojangles, Chick-fil-a, a japanese place where you can get rice bowls and sushi, sub shops, papa johns, a hot dog place, salsaritas, pizza places, a bagel shop, starbucks, and a burger grill. There are many meal plans to choose from that give you a certain amount of money for declining balance to spend at restaurants, or meal swipes to spend in the cafeteria. Freshman are required to have a meal plan, but after that it's up to you whether you want a meal plan or not.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: A lot of available space for students to enjoy recreation time as well as study time

5 College Sophomore

Majors: I enjoy being a chemistry major here there are many outlets to help with success here.

2 College Junior

Parking: I feel the cost of the permits is a little pricey but I guess it is not as bad as at other universities. My only real complaint would be the availability of spaces. I feel that if I am paying for a permit that I shouldn't have to run around to different lots to try and find a spot, which then makes me late to class.

Diversity: I feel this is a very diverse campus. Going to the Student Union, you can see people playing pool, sitting and chatting, doing homework and more. There is a mix of cultures, levels of schooling, religion and sexual orientation and no one openly criticizes this diversity.

2 College Sophomore

Computers: They need more study halls with access to computers

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: A lot of different places, whether you feel like eating junk food or being healthy.

Health & Safety: There are isolated incidents of course, but I never felt unsafe even leaving after a long night at the library.

Guys & Girls: Fantastic views when the warm Carolina sun is out in the early fall and beginning of spring.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Girls seem very friendly and willing to meet many others. The guys seem like typical guys, and are loud and talkative.

Weather: The weather in Charlotte is a good mix of all four season, and it rarely snows. No one likes rain, but if you walk to class then you can always catch a bus or trolley that takes you around campus, which is really convenient! If you live on campus, the furthest you'll have to walk to class is around 15 minutes.

Computers: I never really had any problems with the computers on campus. The library is huge so there were plenty of them there, and laptops are available for checkout (but those do get harder to come by around finals time). Printing was easy and reasonably priced, can be deducted from student account. Wireless was also easily accessible.

Athletics: The athletics at UNCC are continuing to improve. Everyone is very excited for the very first football game to be held this coming August, which will bring the athletic dept. to a whole new level. I really enjoyed going to the basketball games, we've had good teams throughout the years and I loved cheering in the student section. There are lots of intramurals to choose from, as well as a great workout facility and group fitness classes.

5 College Freshman

Facilities: We have an excellent energy engineering department. New building that is awesome. I haven't spent the summer here, plan on working back home. I will be moving off campus after this semester, but campus life has been great for making friends.

2 College Freshman

Parking: Parking is far off, so you need to have everything out of your car. A few students have had their cars broken into at the parking garage.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Drugs are available if you are looking for them, I don't

Local Atmosphere: Always something going on. A large selection of students to hang out with.

3 College Junior

Athletics: There's a very large focus on trying to get a football team going there. The main focus in on basketball. The issue is really, the school needs more room for parking, dorms, and updated sports facilities that service not just the teams. I fear that if a football team is installed at UNCC that will only further diverge the school away from it's original intentions to be an academic institution providing services to a very large student body. UNCC really just does not have a good grasp on allocating funds sustainably for the benifit of the students.

3 College Junior

Diversity: I feel that UNCC tries to be diverse but ultimately it just a suitcase school with a lot of people interested in only studying business. UNCG is ten times more diverse and successfully so. UNCC should use them as an example on how to provide services to students to draw more well suited applicants for a more diverse study body.
