Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

UNC is known for its great academics, abundant research facilities, and storied athletic programs. Students who are priviliged enough to attend Carolina are happy with their choice even though it may not always have been their dream. UNC has been in the top five public schools in the country for the past eight years, and it is considered a "public ivy," so it's no secret that the quality of education at Carolina is far above average. Students at Carolina are continually pushing borders, experiencing new things, and becoming individuals.

At the end of their collegiate careers, many boast of having had the best four years of their lives in Chapel Hill, and that is evidenced by the overwhelming alumni support. UNC will prepare you for what is to come after the beautiful undergraduate years under the perfect Carolina blue sky. But most importantly at Chapel Hill, it is important to cherish every moment because four years fly by, and the college experience is soon over. One of the best things about Carolina is the immense school pride with which the stuent body lives as Tar Heels. Sure, college will be difficult. There will be failed exams and broken hearts, but there will also be experiences that you will never forget—weekend trips with your friends, late night yo-po runs, foam parties at Pulse, Holi Moli, and many others. When you attend Carolina, you will receive a quality education and a great college experience.

Off-Campus Dining: There are lots of great places within walking distance to campus, although they are all downtown so it's not ideal to go when its dark out

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I'm not a part of greek life, but my room and hall-mates are. It's difficult not to create a stereotype for unc's greek students when it seems like all of them are white, heterosexual, come from families that have more money than they can spend, etc.

Health & Safety: Because the campus is downtown, and the city has a relatively high amount of homeless people, sometimes walking at night doesn't feel too safe

Campus Housing: I live in Granville Towers, so its much closer to campus than the "on campus" (entirely through the university) to classes.

Nightlife: There is usually at least one large party every weekend, but its not so bad that there are always intoxicated students walking around.
