Off-Campus Dining: Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Durham have a huge selection of restaurants. There are many late night options for after bars/parties, as well as many upscale restaurants for fancier dinners out. Top of the Hill and Spanky's are popular with tourists and freshmen.

There are a lot of great dining options for UNC students off campus. If you don't want to travel far, there are more than 40 restaurants on Franklin Street, with many different types of cuisine, such as American, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Mexican, and Vietnamese. There are also a lot of fine dining options for when you have a romantic evening planned or when the parents are coming down for a visit. There are a few student favorites, though, such as Bandido's Mexican Café, Spanky's, McAlisters, and Carolina Coffee Shop, just to name a few. For those that have a car, there are also great restaurants just a short drive away.

There are a lot of restaurants open late for the times when you get the munchies, such as Cosmic Cantina and B Ski's. Many restaurants also offer a delivery service that comes in handy during finals or those lazy days that everyone has. It's not unusual to see a pizza delivery to the science labs, or Asia Café delivering to the library. Many students choose to skip the meal plan and eat out, and while it may seem like an expensive option, it tends to fall around the same price. So if you find the dining halls aren't for you, this is always a great option. Food is never a problem at Carolina, but it's a good idea to pick and choose what you eat because the Freshman 15 can easily turn into the Freshman 30 with so many great choices!
