Athletics: No Football – UNCW does not have football. We have basketball but support has been lacking. Baseball is popular in the spring and soccer has quite a few fans. Over all school spirit could use a boost.

Campus Dining: There is three main dining areas. Wagoner is the biggest of the three although they don't have the best food. They're best known for their breakfast. Dub's Grill is a smaller dining hall with a meat station, deli bar, salad bar, and pasta bar. They're the best for meal swipes. Then theres the food court which is relatively small but includes chic-fil-a, quiznos, a mexican place, a hambuger grill, and a salad bar. They take meal swipes after 6.

Health & Safety: Cops Always Around – UNCW has the blue light system. No matter where you are on campus you can see a pole with a blue light. The pole has an emergency button on it that immediately alerts the campus police. Police cars are always present on campus at all hours. Dorms have front desk receptionist 24/7 and guests must be checked in. There are security cameras on most dorm halls.

Transportation: The Buses Are the Best – For students, the city buses are free, and there are several stops on campus. Plus there are several loop buses, which run around campus and to and from off campus parking lots. There's also a point to point bus that'll come and pick you up.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Well, I do know that there are people who smoke, but it really depends on the company you keep. Most people just drink.

5 College Junior

Facilities: It's a "Beach" School – The university is near the beach, so it's a very care-free kind of place. The people are pretty down to earth, and everyone is always in a pretty good mood. I think its the "beach state of mind".

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Typical College Students – The people around campus are pretty nice. It is very typical of most campuses I believe.

1 College Junior

Parking: The parking is a nightmare. Every parking lot is too small and all are sectioned off by your sticker. If all the lots that correspond to your sticker are full you cannot even park in visitor parking.

2 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Parking Sucks – Some places are extremely nice, but some are horrible. Galloway is cramped, old, and something is constantly broken. There is never enough parking, and the parking maids LOVE to write tickets.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Beach Life – Two beaches are within 15 minutes of campus. There are many restaurants, all different types and price ranges. If you feel like clubbing or hanging out with friends, downtown is always active.

Overall Experience: I Love It All – I love my college! I love the friendships that I will treasure forever. I love hanging out on the beach with my bio book...and I am actually studying. I love going to games with all my friends and cheering for our team! The on campus activies thru student affairs are always cool to go check out. I love being so close to the shopping outlets so we can take day trips and relieve some stress!! And there is nothing better than girls nite out with lots of good food(that is off campus..haha) and lots of laughs with my best buds<3!! Ahhhhh College!!!

Weather: There Is No Place I Wold Rather Be!!!! College at the beach?????? What could be better???? So many of my friends have be freezing to death at college since September or October!!! I am soooo glad I am soaking up the rays and getting the education, friendships, experiences of a lifetime at UNCW!!!

Campus Housing: The Sky Is the Limit, Why Would You Ever Want to Live Off Campus? Friends are always around, food is close by, someone is always near to help you with homework. The cost of living on campus cannot be beat when you compare it to all that you are getting. Laundry so close, security around the clock, and dorms are as basic as can be...all the way up to apartment style by the time you are an upperclassman. It is so convienient, and fun to be a part of campus life. There is ALWAYS something going on that you don't wanna miss!!

2 College Junior

Transportation: Free but Hard to Go Places – The buses on campus are free to students as well as city buses but they are hard to figure out and take forever to get you places that is if they get you there.

3 College Junior

Facilities: Student Centers on Campus – The centers have everything for students but there are just a few of them on campus. I go to a gym off campus because they do not offer the classes I want or the classes are packed that I would want to go to.

3 College Junior

Computers: You can get on a computer anywhere but you have to have iprint credit in order to print and you can only do that through the billing which is only open at certain times at certain days. Therefore when it is late at night in the lab you can not print unless you have credit.

Nightlife: Wilmington: the Place to Be – UNCW has an amazingly wide variety of things to do and places to be. From music pumping clubs to laid back bars with live music, anyone can find something to do no matter what their individual taste. From sports bars to house parties, you can find whatever you like. Lets not forget the most important part of the nightlife, the BEACH!! beach bars are abundant and each one carries their own MO.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I get a pretty decent amount of financial aid so I guess you could say I'm happy with it

1 College Sophomore

Athletics: Athletics are almost non-existent. We don't have a football team and the baseball team is the only sports team I would go watch.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: Gorgeous campus, most professors are very nice, decent workload but not overwhelming, easy registration

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: International Program Scholarship – Because I am an international student, I applied for the international program scholarship, and I got it successfully, maybe because there are not many international students. however, it's quite hard to find a freshman student who got scholarships.

3 College Freshman

Facilities: Environmental Campus Life – This university is quite environmental, and I like living on campus. It's quite easy to travel on campus, but the public transports are quite bad, so it's hard to travel without cars.

Facilities: The gym is nice and close to residential areas, and there are baseball field, swimming pool and basketball area. but I think the library is quite small.

Greek Life: Greek Exists, but Isn't Huge. At Wilmington, Greek life is there, but it doesn't play a huge role to the university.Frat houses on campus are just apartments or suites, so nothing really goes on there. As a non-Greek, I just view them as people taking part in something I cannot afford and something that just is not me. Of course there is one fraternity that we all look down on in a joking way, but other than that we do not really judge. Greek life just is, and that's all.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: UNCW Boys and Girls – As a girl,I'm not going to lie, I have noticed a couple good looking guys on campus. The girls are also gorgeous, but it's not flaunted. Everyone so far has been pretty nice and relaxed, occassionly one will dress up but not to a great extent, unless they are in a fraternity. Social life is pretty huge and easy to get into, everyone wants friends, and at UNCW it's easy to make them, and relationships do form.

UNCW offers students a unique, one-of-a-kind university experience, with the combination of its state-of-the-art facilities, well-established programs, location, priority of placing students first, and constant growth. The University is quite young compared to other schools, but it's already ranked right up there along with the best public universities. So much expansion, creation, attention, and credibility has been gained since UNCW's start, and more amazing feats and accomplishments are inevitable for the University's future. Small class sizes, expert professors, and large major varieties bring students of all types to campus. With around 13,000 students total at UNCW, it's the perfect size for those interested in a medium-sized school, and it fosters a unique dynamic. Students have the opportunity to meet someone new every day if they want to, but UNCW is small enough where there is a focus on individual student showcase; students don't have to worry about being lost or overshadowed.

UNCW really gives students all of the tools for success through classes, cultural events, networking opportunities, academic programs, and career developmental training, but it's up to the student to take advantage of these offerings. UNCW can be the perfect fit because of this incredible attention and genuine care for students. The size of the University is right, and the inviting, welcoming atmosphere creates a home for students; everyone can be a part of the University and is encouraged to reach for their aspirations. The campus motto is "Dare to Soar," and UNCW actually means it and follows through with this encouragement. A top choice time and time again, UNCW allows students to go above and beyond just learning in the classroom and makes hands-on, realistic experiences possible. The University is a hidden gem, but is growing every day to gain more national acknowledgement. UNCW is a wonderful place of acceptance and growth, both in the campus and its ambitious students.
