Since all the Greek houses are very close to campus and all in the same general area, it is hard for most students to ignore Greek life on the weekends. Overall, the amount of students in the Greeks system is small, but there are always parties on the weekends, and Frat Row is where most student enjoy going. The Greek system at UNH is large enough to satisfy those who really want to become involved without shutting out students who choose not to. Not being Greek won’t kill your social life, but pledging can make it a lot easier to meet people and keep up with the party scene.
Although the Greek system may dominate the social scene, there are rarely any problems with authorities, despite a few violations that have suspended a couple of fraternities. Contrary to popular belief, the Greek system at UNH is not just there to party. Many Greek organizations are closely tied to the school system, and they also help the community in a number of service programs. However, many students who join fraternities and sororities say that the Greek system at UNH made their experience twice as good, and the people they met are friends for life.
