Facts & Statistics

Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • Bills are not sent out during summer school, which makes it very easy to end up with a late fee.
  • Carry pepper spray, and never walk alone at night.
  • If you leave your drink unattended at a party, bar, or club, throw it away.
  • Scholarships are distributed only shortly before late-fee time, so don't freak out if they haven't been distributed even two weeks before the semester begins. Do double check that they are distributed before late fees are imposed, however, because getting undeserved late fees removed is annoying.
  • Some clubs sell supplies cheaper than nearby bookstores. For example, the Chemistry Club sells goggles and lab coats.
Interviews & Information Sessions
The admissions counselors are available to assist students with applying, transferring, and transitioning to UNLV. For interviews or any questions about admissions, counselors can be reached at (702) 774-UNLV, admissions@unlv.edu, or stopping by their office in the Student Services Complex, Building B (SSC-B) from Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Campus Tours
Campus tours offer an opportunity to learn a little history about UNLV and see the buildings, theaters, libraries, and recreation facilities. You'll also have a chance to ask the tour guides, who are current students, questions, get additional information from the academic department of your choice, and check out a dorm room. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and attire because the tour takes an hour and 30 minutes to complete, and the distance is about one mile. Campus tours take place Monday through Saturday and can be booked by calling (702) 774-TOUR or visiting tours.unlv.edu.
Overnight Visits
UNLV offers a program called Individual Stay, which provides clean, safe, and economical suite-style rooms that prospective students and their families can stay in. For more information, call Conference Housing at (702) 895-4449 or check out conferences.unlv.edu/individualstay.html.
