4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: I love it! All of the bike and running trails are gorgeous with beautiful waterfalls and trees and other plants lining the paths. There are so many things to do whether it be on campus or down in the Haymarket. I always see policemen patrolling so it makes me feel a lot safer than other cities I have been to.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Not very big, but always fun things to do downtown.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: It's good, it's growing and very college oriented but I miss the big city feel of Omaha and other cities.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: I like the city of Lincoln, but people don't leave the Haymarket very often. I wish there was shopping more conveniently located, since the mall is 15 mins away.

Judging from students’ comments, it’s obvious that Lincoln is a college town. There are four colleges in the area, which means there are tens of thousands of college students to run into at bars, sporting events, parties, malls, and concerts. Omaha offers a nice change of pace for when students get tired of the usual Lincoln hangouts.

Lincoln’s no NYC, but considering it’s 35 times smaller, it still has enough to keep any young adult occupied. While the city doesn’t have a Broadway or well-known historical landmarks, it does have its share of nature and enough local landmarks to make it feel like home. Lincoln is small enough that, during your senior year, you’ll probably recognize someone anywhere you go, but it’s also big enough that you’re not bored out of your mind after the first week.
