Facts & Statistics

Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • Classes aren't all that bad here.
  • Find all the shortcuts, tunnels, and indoor walkways you can because your ears will be a lot less numb in January.
  • Get a planner and use it. It will save a ton of hassle in your life later.
  • If you're buying a computer, buy a laptop with wireless Internet capabilities. And while you're at it, save about five percent at the UNL Computer Store in the Student Union.
  • Plan in advance if you want to study abroad.
  • Study abroad.
  • There's more to college than a fancy dorm suite.
  • Unless you're into burning money, don't park in a red zone.
  • You don't have to like your roommate-you just have to be able to live with them.

Campus Tours
Daily campus visits are available Monday through Friday and on selected Saturdays. Saturday visits include a general information session and a tour of campus. Appointments with academic programs or with the Scholarships & Financial Aid Office are only available Monday-Friday. During the summer, we recommend the morning session because of the extreme temperatures. However, we still offer both sessions. Contact us in advance to ensure the availability of a tour. Red Letter Days and NU Previews are big events with many prospective students and are great days to get a dose of UNL life. Red Letter Days are for high school seniors and NU Previews are for high school juniors. To find out dates and more specifics, visit
