There aren't many options for transportation around Mount Union, but students try to make the best of the situation. The University is small and meant for walking, so no transportation is provided on campus, except for Campus Security who will give you a ride if you feel unsafe. If you need to get around the city of Alliance, there is a good number of stores and restaurants within walking or biking distance. However, if the weather's bad or you need to go farther from campus, students say it's best to bring a car or find a ride with someone who has one. You can catch the SARTA bus for a fairly cheap rate, but it isn't frequented by students and most don't know anything about it. For long-distance travel, there is an Amtrak station in Alliance, where you can catch a train, and the Akron-Canton Airport is about thirty minutes away by car or the SARTA.
There are some other transportation services for international students and students from out of state. These students can make arrangements to be picked up or dropped off at the airport or bus station in Canton through the Mount Union Center for Global Education. There are also organized shopping trips for international students from time to time. These services are free and must be reserved in advance. If students cannot arrange transportation through the University, they also have the option of hiring a taxi at their own expense.
