Off-Campus Housing: The only off-campus housing offered that is affordable and near the school are 3 and 4 bedroom houses (often with 2 or 3 floors); you would need to get roommates.

College Sophomore

Majors: Have not had an internship.

Facilities: Facilities are beautiful and very modern and updated.

Local Atmosphere: It is a fun city, but not great for a college student.

1 College Sophomore

Athletics: No one attends athletics, no school spirit and its not the ideal college sports experience.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: The professors and class structure is amazing!! There is consistency in "curriculum" and what is being taught, and I've had classes with only 15 people in them. LOVE IT.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: Professors are very knowledgeable and you learn more than just the basics and what comes out of textbooks.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: It is a commuter school, so on campus activities can be boring and not too many people show up. After 5 or 6 and on the weekends there are barely any people on campus.

1 College Sophomore

Nightlife: UMKC does not offer many parties. Clubs in the area are not really an option either because you must be 21 years old to get in.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: I was amazed with the diversity on campus. It doesn't only look diverse, but the interactions and activities on campus

prove the diversity of the campus.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: UMKC is only a few minutes away from the Plaza. There are tons of shops, resteraunts and bars and a range of prices to make sure that you can find a place to get a drink at the price that works for you.

5 College Sophomore

Scholarships: With financial aid it was easy as long as you have everything ready and done by March 1st there shouldn't be any problems. And once it is accepted what needs to be paid is paid also its takes out a huge proportion of tuition. Its the best thing for free money which people always need.

Health & Safety: Going to school you always want it to be a safe environment and would never think that anything could actually happen until it happens. In the fall semester of 2013 a close friend that I had just meet was attack by a man. And even though we help police alerts around campus to her that was not enough. Being so disgusted her parents took her out of the school and didn't allow her to come back.

Academics: I have several opportunities with my major, but for me I am very shy and hardly interact. Trying to do better and be around people who enjoys doing all types of different things helps me want to do them as well. Work wise it is not hard as long as you apply yourself and take the time out to study you really have nothing to worry about. There is also always something on campus after hours that allow you to meet people such as the Dean of Nursing, other students in the program, or if you just need some questions answered.

Academics: Academic offers could be more effective. As a school you promote the best classes and teachers, but behind closed doors everything maybe and sometimes are different. I enjoyed all of my professors but the ones that I really enjoyed second semester weren't even there and I was taught by the TA which was the worst idea because herself was graduating this last spring and that was her only focus. So it was just ok I just wished it was much better.

Guys & Girls: Everyone at UMKC has their own unique style and are so free with who they are. It makes anyone who don't attend want to attend I love it and the people.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: I would say it's all about applying for all the scholarships that you qualify for. They have many based on financial need and academics.

4 College Junior

Academics: For my business majors theres great professors and resources in finding employment and internships.

4 College Junior

Academics: The workload is medium depending on the perosn, I graduated from a college prep high school so the workload hasn't changed.

College Junior

Campus Strictness: Since I don't live on campus I would say academic honesty is very important for classes many professors will warn you that you will fail and or reported to the dean.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: I never lived on campus becuase it was too expensive I've had an apartment off campus since my freshman year and it's very affordable. I advise anyone looking to really look around and search management companies in certain areas, because they will have a large selection of avalible housing in the most sought out areas, such as the plaza, midtown, westport, and hyde park. It's a cheaper alternative both places I rented from were half the price or even less than living on campus.

Facilities: I would say the facilities are great, I come from an inner city school so my high school building was pretty old and didn't have the updated buildings and resources that this school has to offer.

4 College Junior

Facilities: The library is very nice they have just added onto the Miller Nichols Library, and there is always availible computers.

Overall Experience: I would say that UMKC is a great place to be to get a quality education at a non- ivy league price, the school offers midwest exchange rate for kansas residents who want to attend and many scholarships for the economically disadvantaged such as myself are availible. I received various scholarships and grants just based off of financial need and the high school I graduated from, leaving me with all classes payed for , and no need to apply for a loan so far. The classroom experience so far in my more engaging classes (non business) courses is great I've exchanged ideas and many real life issues with other students and it's really interesting being able to talk with other young people with no judgement and respect for eachother. The location of UMKC is great also for out of state or international students because local Country Club plaza and musuems are minutes away from campus. The campus offers on campus jobs and work-study positions that are very flexible with your school schedule unlike other jobs, because they have certain requirements like maintaining a certain grade point average and based on being a student your exempt to certain taxes , they make many students want to be apart of the student staff and express that your school comes first. I've worked on campus since my freshman year and I'll be a junior this fall.

Local Atmosphere: I'm a Kansas City native so I know all about the local events and its pretty fun, I would say it's what you make of it, you just have to want to get out.
