Local Atmosphere: Since the U is located in a big city there is a lot to do! The Mall of America is only 20 minutes away and there is a lot of great dining both in Dinkytown and Downtown.

Local Atmosphere: TCF Bank Stadium, which is the football stadium for the Gophers, will actually be housing the Vikings for the next couple of years while the Metrodome is being rebuilt. As one might imagine, Vikings' games are going to see a whole lot of maroon and gold for the next few years. Furthermore, the MN Wilds are also based pretty closely to the campus, making it easy to go out and get your fill of professional sports, whether you poison be football, hockey, basketball, or even soccer.

I do have to say that the nightlife directly around campus is relegated to the house parties, Greek parties, and apartment parties. Although being underage may skew my perception of the bars active directly around campus, there aren't many that cater to a non-college crowd. But, if that's your thing, then you're in luck. Baldy's, Burrito Loco, and Blarney's are the big three of college student bars - and I hear that they're all pretty awesome and that you're probably going to have a great time if you wind up going to one of them!

Local Atmosphere: There are many things on and near campus to do. But be forewarned! Dinkytown can be dangerous, especially at night. And NEVER travel alone. Please travel with someone else. The more people you have, the less likely you are to be a target of crime.

Local Atmosphere: This school has the best gym. Safety is sometimes an issue. At night, there is crime, sch robbing. I love going to different cultural events. I wentto the Korean and Indian Cultural events.

Local Atmosphere: Minneapolis is a great city with tons of things to do. There is a large variety of cafes, shops, museums, theaters, and much more! Also a great scene for all sort of concerts and performances.

The University of Minnesota is a city of its own. There are always concerts to attend, parties to go to, coffee shops to try, and much more. The U of M and the Twin Cities are full of opportunities and possibilities for those who look for them. One can go hiking or camping, clubbing downtown, catch up with a friend in one of the many locally-owned coffee shops, attend one of many performances, go to an athletic event, or even just bike around one of the lakes, go on nature walks, and whatever else one's heart desires. Being close to downtown allows for students looking to be in the hub of activities to just hop on a bus and be on their way. Uptown has a little more of a sophisticated take on life. Students can walk around lakes, sip on some coffee or juice, and enjoy being outdoors.

Minnesota is beautiful at every time of the year. Summer brings out farmers' markets, Valleyfair, Minnesota State Fair, and other carnivals. The winter activities range from competitive skiiing to snowball fights. Fall brings about many apple orchards and pumpkin patches. Overall, the Twin Cities is the right blend of the fast urban life, the stable suburban life, and the simplistic rural life. No matter what a student prefers, he or she is guaranteed to find the local atmosphere accommodating to every mood and taste.
