College Freshman

Greek Life: I don't know anything about the greek life.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Many different people from many different backgrounds. Lots of support for religious, political beliefs or sexual orientation. Very accepting school.

2 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: If you get into trouble with the law and you're enrolled at the school, your parents will be notified of the situation regardless of if the incident occurred on campus, live at home, or are legally independent. Additionally fines from the police for underage alcohol infractions are also applied by the school effectively doubling the fine.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: There's not a whole lot to do here if you're from the area. Lots of tourist and local landmark attractions. There is a large convention center in town that often hosts concerts and other entertainment attractions.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: The althletic center is top notch though it can get busy with the school athletics also using the center. However, it's free to students so if you're looking for a gym membership, that's the way to go. The library is a great place to study with a lot of really useful resources including a very good tutoring center.

Computers: There are a lot of computer labs, some of which are available only to your major and some of them are general use. The wireless is very reliable and I've never had a place where it isn't available. Printing costs 10 cents a sheet using money loaded onto your school I.D. You can get by without a personal computer but it makes life much easier as the computer labs are not open 24 hours.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Scholarships are pretty competitive and are based mostly on your personal situation.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: There isn't a whole lot to do if you're underage. There are a few clubs in the area but they are 21+. Taxis are pretty expensive but there are a lot of bars in the area.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Housing varying from place to place. There are off campus places that provide a shuttle to the school. These places tend to be a bit pricey or lower quality. There is plenty of places in the area to rent and pricing depends on the place. Parking is usually on street and can be problematic Especially in the winter.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are some interesting places to eat around Duluth. There are always coupons or student discounts one can find. A must place to eat would have to be Pizza Luce. It's in downtown Duluth.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: If there are parties going on, there is not any peer pressure to drink. People are respected for being a designated driver. Drinking on campus is not tolerated at all.

3 College Freshman

Academics: The academic advisers are willing to help with whatever you need for your major. There is a lot of resources to answer and questions you may have.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are a lot of options for off-campus apartments or houses. Usually you room a few people you might not know if it's your first or second year. By the third and fourth year, you would be able to room with a group of friends to make things affordable.

3 College Freshman

Weather: Duluth gets lots of different weather. It's okay because the buildings are all connected to each other. You never have to experience the elements if you don't want to.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: We have the multicultural center here for students to meet others like them and gain more friends. Those who are curious about a certain group can go there to learn more about them.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: There are a lot of things to do at night including movies, adventure zone, and the beach for bonfires.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: There are some dorms that are better than others. They all have their own perks.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: There are a lot of people I know that are apart of Greek life. They are very sociable and have lots going on around the school.

3 College Freshman

Parking: Being a freshman, I really liked the fact that I had a car. There is no need for one however. One can definitely survive without one.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: They definitely don't have any tolerance for alcohol.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Bus system is free. Can take you to a lot of different places.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: UMD is a very safe campus with everything connected so there isn't a worry about walking outside at night

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: There is always something to do in Duluth, especially if you like outdoors

3 College Junior

Nightlife: Fun once you are 21 but transportation is hard. Takes a long time for taxi

3 College Junior

Computers: Printing is ridiculously expensive, worth it to get own printer
