3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: I haven't had any problems but I know many people who get away with a lot of things.

5 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Ann Arbor is THE definition of a college town: it's hard to imagine the city without students in the summer.

3 College Sophomore

Computers: The computer labs don't seem necessary and I only visit them in order to print something. If you have a laptop and a printer in your room, you really don't ever need to use a computer lab.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: The academic strictness is largely left up to the individual teachers: some teachers will knock you down a grade if you miss a class and others simply don't care.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: The dorms are a pretty good option... if you don't get stuck in one without air conditioning or on North Campus (if you don't have any classes up there). There's such a wide gap between the best dorms and the worst dorms that it's hard to generalize the dorm experience.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Off campus houses tend to be far away and they all get rented 6 months to a year and a half in advance; if you're not on top of it, you will not get a house.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: The alcohol visibility is only really pronounced on the weekends (in the frats) and on game day; the police never seem to do anything about the wild parties down on State street unless things get seriously out of hand.

Off-Campus Dining: I prefer eating off campus to eating in the dining halls, though it is more expensive and wasteful to always eat off campus if you have a meal plan

4 College Sophomore

Academics: The workload is heavy in terms of reading (English majors tend to get a lot of reading) and the staff are very knowledgable.

College Sophomore

Greek Life: I don't frequent "greek row" or any of the greek parties and none of my friends belong to any greek organizations so it would be unfair to judge how the rest of campus sees them based on my own limited experience.

Local Atmosphere: This school sucks balls! and it stinks on campus and the football team sucks too

Health & Safety: The campus is fairly safe, and I think the UHS (University Health Service) is helpful if you are willing to wait for long amounts of time and pay a lot of money for prescriptions.

Majors: There is such a wide range of majors here at UofM. There is no way that you can come here and not find some classes that you are interested in. I didn't really figure out what I wanted to do until the end of this year, but that didn't really hinder my track of my program. I am still going to be able to graduate on time. I am in the LS&A and I think a lot of what they looked at in the application process was passion and involvement in extracurriculars and such.

Majors: I love the professors and everyone that I've encountered in the process of being in the program so far. I hope to go to graduate school for Social Work, and I think with the connections that UofM has, I won't have trouble finding a job in the future.

Weather: The winters are absolutely terrible. It is freezing and lots of times many of the sidewalks aren't fully cleared, causing for dangerous walks to and from classes.

Athletics: Football Saturdays and Basketball Game Days are super exciting and I love being able to participate. The intramural and club sports are really cool to watch as well.

Drug Safety: I, personally, don't partake in the drug scene, but I have never been negatively affected by those who do.

2 College Freshman

Scholarships: I am an out-of-state student, so my tuition is already hiked up a lot more than in-state students. This is one of the most expensive public university tuitions I have ever seen, and I find it quite frustrating that I applied for aid and did not receive any.

Nightlife: There is never a weekend that you won't find something to do!

Off-Campus Dining: There are tons of restaurants on and around campus. Some of them are harder to get to when it's winter and there's snow everywhere, but there are plenty of options.

Campus Strictness: The university is pretty relaxed about most things, but I have never felt endangered on campus for any reason.

Drug Safety: Medicinal marijuana is legal in Michigan, therefore more people have access. There are guidelines and reminders of how individuals should behavior in regards to alcohol and drugs.
