Greek Life: The Greek scene is one big community. If you join your first semester, your life will basically be your house for the first two years of college. Then the frat parties and date parties wear off, and you'll spend your last two years at the bars.

Greek Life: Greek life is prevalent here, but it doesn't dominate the social scene at all. I'm not in a frat, and I've had no problems going to parties, making friends, and having fun. This school is large enough that you can go either way and still have a great social life. Although, it is always good to know someone in the Greek system so you can get into their parties.

Greek Life: I've never gotten too involved in Greek stuff. I have a lot of friends in frats and sororities, and they always have fun parties. If you're into that stuff, it can be a huge part of your social life. But that's not all there is in terms of having fun and hanging out.

Drug Safety: The drug scene is not really big here. I know that there is one present, though. If you get a chance, look up `Hash Bash' on the Internet.

Niche User

Drug Safety: There is a lot of pot floating around UM. And there are other drugs, but I don't see many of them. It all depends on what type of people you hang out with.

Niche User

Drug Safety: If you're not into drugs, you won't see them at all. I haven't, but this doesn't mean drugs don't exist here.

Niche User

Drug Safety: Some rich sorority girls do coke, but I've never seen it in my life, nor do I want to.

Niche User

Drug Safety: I can find the drugs I need; UM is definitely not a dry campus in that regard.

Niche User

Drug Safety: Ann Arbor is notorious for its lenient marijuana laws. Each year, Hash Bash brings the sketchiest people still stuck in the `70s to campus. Beware, they don't smell too good.

Niche User

Drug Safety: I was never into drugs, but they are prevalent here. It was never my scene, so I can't really offer you first-hand knowledge of it.

Niche User

Drug Safety: I definitely would not say that there is a drug problem on campus, but I think that if you want to find some, you can usually do it. You just may have to look around, unless you're into that scene.

Niche User

Drug Safety: Some people use them, some don't. We do have the infamous Hash Bash, a full day devoted to marijuana on campus. Cops galore! It's more of a festival, though. Pothead or not: it's kind of fun to be in town for that special day.

Niche User

Drug Safety: Drugs at UM and Ann Arbor are available but certainly not overwhelming.

Niche User

Drug Safety: There are so many different kinds of people here. You'll meet people who have never even seen marijuana, and people who've snorted enough cocaine to kill a small horse! It's just like anywhere else: if you look for it, you can find it, whatever `it' happens to be.

Niche User

Diversity: This campus is very diverse. There are people from every culture imaginable at U of M.

Niche User

Diversity: It's moderately diverse here. There's certainly a large white population, but there are minorities on campus. The two largest minority groups here, I think, are blacks and Asians.

Niche User

Diversity: The school is very diverse, but there is a major East Coast feel to the school. A lot of students have a lot of money, and they make it pretty obvious.

Niche User

Diversity: We are an extremely diverse university. We have many organizations that cover about every minority you can imagine, and we have a totally liberal atmosphere.

Niche User

Diversity: Michigan is extremely well known for its diversity, and this is one of my favorite aspects of the campus. Prior to attending the University, I did not know the richness that diversity can bring to your life. My experience at the business school was greatly enhanced by the many cultures and experiences that the diverse student body provided.

Niche User

Diversity: If you're a Republican, you're a minority at Michigan.

Niche User

Diversity: This is one of the most diverse campuses in the world. A really large number of different countries are represented here.

Niche User

Diversity: The gay community is pretty active on campus and is pretty well tolerated.

Diversity: Diversity is a huge issue on campus, with the affirmative action lawsuits focusing the national diversity spotlight on Ann Arbor. There's a cultural group for every possible cultural identity, but the result is an unfortunate self-segregation that plagues much of campus. While the student population as a whole is diverse, people tend to group themselves with similar people.

Niche User

Diversity: UM is definitely the most diverse school in Michigan. And I'd say, statistically, UM is one of the most diverse public schools in the nation.

Niche User

Diversity: There is a large Jewish population on campus.
