Students are quick to point out the presence of police officers on campus, especially late at night. This is a good thing as far as safety goes, but makes getting away with things a lot harder. Every floor of the residence halls has RAs who are trained to look out for drinking and other illicit activities. Some RAs are strict and will report you over anything, while others actually allow drinking as long as it doesn't get out of control. Either way, the RAs are usually pretty cool and are just trying to keep everyone safe. The campus police are strict, but they can't cover every corner of campus, so kids still get away with plenty of underage drinking, the most common infraction on campus. Students have to check in to the dorms whenever they return after 10 p.m., so if you come back totally drunk and unable to walk, you'll probably get written up for public intoxication. Normally the police won't be involved, but you'll have to meet with a counselor, and your parents will find out.

One of the more annoying areas of strictness is with the parking lot police. These guys ride around on golf carts and write tickets for anyone double parked or parked in the wrong lot, or even people who park over the white lines on the ground, even if the guy next to you was the cause of it. Some parking citations are absolutely ridiculous, but they're easy to appeal as long as you don't get too many. The most common reason for getting in trouble on campus is definitely underage drinking in the dorms. If you get noise complaints and run around the halls, even the most lenient RAs are bound to get fed up and turn you in.
