Computers: Network Reliability – The reliability of the network on campus is nearly perfect. There are some issues once in a while, whoever, they are rare.

Campus Strictness: Strict but Fair – UM students are made to fully understand all policies (including academic) and the consequences of violating them. The rules are just and consequences include academic probation for a 1st time offense. There is an Honor Council for students caught cheating.

Drug Safety: Strict Drug Policy but Still Present – The school police are very strict on alcohol and drug use, but they admit that illegal substances are still present on campus. Encounters with drugs depend on the social scene you have. I have seen students drinking and have heard of some doing drugs, but it's easy not to get involved with it.

Academics: Geared Toward a Successful Experience – I'm a double major in biology and ecosystem science in the College of Arts and Science at UM. There are many medical, research, and environmental opportunities open to me in both programs. The academic level is high, but the professors are very open and helpful to all students. With an undergraduate research program and a career center, students can find internships and professor-led research. Throughout the year, academic and social events are held to broaden a student's experience. One of UM's most helpful tools is the free tutoring program open to all students.

Diversity: University of Miami diversity varies; racially it's not very diverse nor economically. However, it's diverse in the sense of religion and sexual orientation.

Guys & Girls: Students are mostly preppy.. losts of blond, southern gentlemen

Academics: Workload ! You must be willing to do assigned reading !! Proff. are well prepared, so they expect the same from students . They are also willing to help, as long as they see the student is also interested

Health & Safety: Totally Safe – Students receive text messages from the campus PD if there is any suspicious activity on campus so we are always aware of what is going on.

Facilities: U of Miami – Great school, very diverse, and nice staff. Everything you can dream of.

Transportation: Easy to get around but always better to have own transportation.

Greek Life: It is diverse. I plan to join it someday but from what I hear.... the parties arethe best.

Off-Campus Dining: Pricy but Delicious!! If you love spanish food you're in the right place. A 15 minute drive lands you on 8th street, where the best Hispanic restaurants line the streets. However, if Spanish food isn't your thing, there is always South Beach, Coconut Grove, and Miracle Mile in the gables to provide you with the best food, (at a premium price). I personally love Charthouse in Coconut Grove. Their molten lava cake is to die for and they have the best and freshest seafoods.

Overall Experience: All About the U – I've felt pretty at home at UM. Maybe it's because I've lived in Miami for half my life? I love the city, and I love the University. The people are fun, I enjoy my classes, the campus is beautiful, and there's always something to do. My involvement has been pretty superficial because I live far from campus, but if I had to do it all over again, I would still choose UM because it's a quality school. All the resources we need to learn are provided here.

Nightlife: Always a Party Somewhere – You could say kids at the University of Miami are into partying. There's always a party going on somewhere, and in a vibrant city like Miami, it's not hard to find something to do. The Grove is only a few blocks away, and it's the premier hangout spot for young students looking for a good time. There's a lot of clubs in Miami that are 18 and over, but I would be lying if I said no one had fake ID's to go drink and party at the more grown-up places. In any case, students that live off campus frequently have parties, and of course sororities and frats do too. Students usually get around either by taxi or the famous "Drunk Bus" shuttle that the school provides, which takes students down to South Beach and other locales.

Computers: I can find a computer with internet almost anywhere on campus. Each dorm building has its own lab, the library has two floors full of computers that are easily accessible and always available except for maybe during finals week. There's also a small computer lab in the UC (University Center) which always has at least one free computer, but no printers. In the communications building, where most of my classes are located, there are three computer labs that boast both Mac and PC's, loaded with all the software we need: FinalCut Pro, FinalDraft, and anything else we might need. We can get wireless internet anywhere on campus, and it's very fast. And the printing system couldn't be easier. Just find any campus computer, and there'll be a printer next to it where you just slide your card and print.

Facilities: Go Canes! all the student centers are all very well-organized, very student oriented, there is always someone to help out. Whether you like it or not, there is always campus activities, which are very exciting, most students enjoy it. Activities go all around the campus, usually in the beginning of the fall semester there is a lot of activities planned for students, that way new students can get more involved and more familiarized with the campus and its people.

Academics: THE U ! The oppurunitys in this school are great. I would recommend anyone to come to the school. The student body is very interested, we all help out one another. School spirit it more than anyone can ask for. There is clubs for EVERYTHING! Teachers are almost always available to help you, if you can't get the help of a teacher be sure that one of your fellow colleges will be more than happy to help you at the labs. In general i love the school, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Local Atmosphere: miami is a great city! there is always a lot of fun activities to do everyday! you also get to meet people from all over the world and learn from their different cultures

Parking: Although the university has informed us that they are implementing a new parking system this year I am still apprehensive about being able to find a space next fall. Also, the price students must pay in order to obtain an elusive parking permit is somewhat outrageous. it would be cheaper to take the train everyday than pay parking for one semester.

4 College Junior

Athletics: New Wellness Center – The university has just built a new wellness center that helps students keep in shape during the semester. Also the Intramural fields directly beyond are an excellent place for outdoor sports, and is filled to capacity nearly every day of the week, including weekends.

Academics: An Education That Lasts – I came to the University of Miami because of it's legendary academic prowess and I have not been disappointed. The classes can be hard, but the education is worth it. The information sticks with you in a lasting and meaningful way. I am able to use things I learn in my classes and apply them to everyday scenarios and problems.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Its Average – The school gives very helpful scholarships, however they are difficult to obtain. One must be an outstanding high school student if they plan on getting one.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: Always Sunny – Miami weather is always the same. It is always sunny. The temperature rarely dips into the 50s.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: School of Engineering – The engineering program at the University of Miami is one that is not to be taken lightly. All the courses that students have to take are very strenuous and tedious. Many students drop their engineering major because of the difficulty of the classes. The professors are helpful, but the material that needs to be learned is not easy.

Campus Housing: Beautiful housing. Overlooks the man made lake in the center of campus. I lived suite style and never had a complaint about the size of my room and the bathroom.

Despite daily griping about tuition costs, parking, thunderstorms, and hard classes, most students really seem to enjoy UM. Excellent attributes like the nightlife, weather, and culture seem to cancel out some of the bad things about being in Miami. For some students, these bad things include the unapproachable "hot" girls and guys on campus, while others find life in the dorms to be a challenge. The complaints about college are basically what you'd expect to hear anywhere. It appears that the bad things at UM really aren't that bad, but the good things are very good. Miami is one of the coolest cities in the world for a college student, and that goes deeper than just the superficial bar and club scene.

Students who are unhappy generally figure it out within a semester and transfer out of UM, usually to somewhere closer to home. College is tough, especially the first couple weeks if you come without knowing anyone. Making a whole new group of friends for the first time since kindergarten is one of the hardest and most stressful things you may ever have to do. But the end result of this process is friendships that you'll likely maintain for the rest of your life. Whether it's your roommate, classmates, fraternity brother, or sorority sister, college is a time when you should make friends and have fun. Despite the initial challenges of coming to college, there are few cities in the world that are as fun as Miami.
