3 Recent Alumnus

Parking: Parking is expensive but a car is not really necessary.

5 Recent Alumnus

Transportation: The Newark campus has access to most transportation with frequent opportunities to transfer between one mode of transportation to another.

3 College Senior

Facilities: Most of the resrouces are focused on the medical students and other disiplines. They are nice areas for them including the medical library.

3 College Senior

Guys & Girls: Lot of variety of people in different programs. However, the programs rarely mingle.

College Senior

Athletics: dont see or use these facilities. Not sure they have any.

4 College Senior

Computers: good computers however the support staff is hard to find when you need them.

3 College Senior

Weather: Ok, cold in winter not a lot of snow but we can get sometimes. Classes hardly get canceled.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Good options if you wish to use them. IHOP is near by, KFC and other fast food. Wish applebees was closer in walking distance but it is a short drive away.

1 College Senior

Health & Safety: There have been crimes against students in the past. I do not stay long after class. I haven't experienced any volience but I do not want to take any chances.

3 College Senior

Campus Dining: You can walk to get food. The hospital cafe is across the street with food trucks as well. KFC is also near by.

3 College Senior

Majors: They offer bachelors degrees in some areas where other schools only give associates.

3 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: Very urban area which is fine. There have been some safety issue around the campus. I do not feel very safe so I leave as soon as class is over. I do not want to spend time in the library I would rather study at home.

4 College Senior

Academics: The program is good just seems very unorganized. Work load is a lot. There is a lot of material being thrown at you at one time. Some of the professors aren't very understanding. They feel just because they understood a topic when they were in school that you would automatically understand it as well.

3 College Senior

Transportation: I do not use it but I know they offer a shuttle bus for free to the train station for students at no cost.

1 College Senior

Scholarships: Might be better if I received one or got any information about scholarships. I applied for financial aid and only received student loans. I had to leave my full time job to go back to school so receiving some help would of made me really happy but I only was put more into debt.

Parking: Finding good parking is hard. They have created gauranteed parking for the small cost of $800 and regular parking for $175 I beleive. There are a lot more gaurantteed spots and than regular ones. Regardless if you have a class that begins after 8am good luck with parking. I usually have early classes so I am lucky and I get a spot behind my building. They do have one garage but its a nice walk but I don't trust walking around too much in that area.

4 College Freshman

Parking: Parking isn't far from the main campus; a short 5 minute walk, 2 minutes if you get there early. Campus security is on point and safety is not an issue. Some potholes but nothing major.

2 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Teriyaki/sushi, Chinese, fro-yo, Blimpie, crabs, Subway, Burger King, IHOP, KFC, Dunkin Donuts, Checkers, Dinosaur BBQ, McDonalds; for non chains, there are lots of great Spanish/Portuguese restaurants in the Ironbound district (try Iberia, Adega, and Ferry Street BBQ).

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: It's really not hard to get financial aid here, you just need to make sure you email the financial aid office after you submit your Direct Loan application paperwork or they won't know you've applied

2 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Pretty desolate; Newark highlights include the Prudential Center, the Newark Museum, the Ironbound/Down Neck area

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Very nice apartments, but more expensive than they should be.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Snow's cleared pretty quickly, so that's not really an issue. We have had a power outage or two during hurricane season, and some people got some water through the walls of their dorm room, but that's about it.

3 College Senior

Parking: Parking in Newark is tough unless you have a parking permit where you can park in the decks. But if you don't have that, side street parking with parking meters is the only option. During rush hour is definitely hard to find parking so I would encourage to come earlier to get decent parking spots, and if possible buy the parking tag. There are certain locations where you have free side street parking, but it's far from the school and I wouldn't recommend it especially when you have night classes. Newark area can be very daunting at night time. So best tip are come early to campus, if possible buy parking tag, and try to avoid night classes.

3 College Senior

Guys & Girls: Differing Opinions – They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so this is my opinion. The guys aren't very attractive to me and dress in a more preppy manner. The girls are attractive and well-dressed. However there is a an older generation crowd.

3 College Senior

Diversity: Many of the Same Race – The majority of students are of a Caucasian race. There are a minority of students who are of African American descent or Hispanic descent. However, the school does try to bring about cultural awareness and diversity programs to inspire other students to learn about different cultures on the campus. It would be nice to see more cultural influence in groups that lead the student body such as the Student Senate.
