2 College Freshman

Drug Safety: there's always going to be someone willing to buy underage students a drink. that can't be avoided. but a majority of the campus is high on a regular basis. there's people who grow the stuff in arden's, talons, eveywhere! and the police do nothing! it's baffling!

College Freshman

Greek Life: the school was banned from having a female greek life on campus so i can't say. and men's is just being brought back

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: the DJs are pretty good. it's just the boys are kinda creepy at times and they literally dry hump you at times. as a girl it gets annoying and i would rather go to a party at SU at times because the guys are less likely to try and take you home there

Academics: oh dear god this school is full of idiots. i can't believe they let these students into college. they shouldn't do it because it's giving students who wouldn't make it into a good college a chance to skim through and get a degree. the teachers are half god awful. they have such heavy accents its difficult to understand and then they aren't willing to help half the time. my high school was harder than this and this school is full of morons.

Computers: one of the only good parts about the school is that you could come with no laptop and be fine. theres plenty of labs to use and computers to borrow. the network has been up and down lately but overall it's okay

Off-Campus Housing: i don't have to pay to live off campus but i've heard it's a pain to deal with at times. parking in Arden's is just god awful at night or any time past 6pm. they didn't think to add more parking to the back when they made three new buildings. and they didn't think the trash situation through when they gave four buildings two trash bins. it's stupid.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: because i don't have a car, everything else is to out of the way to goto for the most part. so pizza hut is my goto. they're normally pretty fast and it's always good.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: there isn't anything to do in princess anne. so students just goto games to kill time before a party or if they nothing better to do. basketball is the only real sport people go to.

Local Atmosphere: princess anne is a dead town for college students. theres the fast food and the over priced food lion to eat. you have to go two towns over to do anything fun and the school has no shuttle during the week to go out on the weekend so it's a pian being stuck on campus all the time if you dont have a car

4 College Freshman

Diversity: there's no real problem of intolerance on campus that i've seen. the only thing there may be is if you're not from PG, Baltimore, or where ever else a majority of these students are from

Campus Housing: i don't live on campus but i live in Arden's, which the school rents. living anywhere else besides Arden's or Clusters is terrible. The cost to do laundry adds up over time. Maintinance takes forever to come and check something out anywhere you live. and the school lies when they say they arrest students caught doing drugs. you walk into buildings and it smells like weed. yet campus police does nothing when we complain about it.

3 College Student

Off-Campus Housing: The off-campus housing this not that costly but costly for students, there are bus transportation to where ever we want to go. The parking lots are limited in space.

4 College Student

Off-Campus Dining: There are varieties of Chinese restaurants, and fast food around the school. Their price did not change and there are not student discounts.

3 College Student

Academics: There are job opportunities in schools but it is easily taken.

3 College Student

Local Atmosphere: The local atmosphere is very quiet, there is no much to do in this area. Store are like 15- 30 minutes drive away from the city.

4 College Student

Campus Housing: Some dorms are very spacious and some are not. It is best to live in the school campus because its cheaper, $300 a year and there is availability of food in the cafeteria.

Computers: There are computers available in the computer labs, in some halls as well as in the library. if there is money on our hawk card we can print in school for free. The school network is very good but at times it goes on and off. The need for personal computers is important if you want to have a private study in your room or in a private place where you don't want to be interrupted.

3 College Student

Drug Safety: Students are not allowed to use drugs in school especially in dorms, any student caught would be arrested.

Athletics: The athletics at my school are very great, and the students attend the meetings and practices each time it is required.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Well worth it even if you do not have a car.

3 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Salisbury has a lot things students can do. Like going to the bar

3 College Junior

Transportation: Buses need to come more frequently

1 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: There are almost no attractions in town. To find something interesting to do a student would have to travel thirty miles at least.

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is a great school because it’s not far from home for the many students who come from the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area and tuition is not extremely expensive. Another plus is that the campus is large but the student body is not. This allows students and teachers to make and maintain great relationships. The availability of classes and other resources is another plus here.

And the University is only on the rise. Buildings have been added and the campus is expanding, which has allowed for the number of students, faculty, and programs on campus to grow, as well. Recent programs that have become available at UMES include aviation and pharmacy, which have brought good media attention to the campus, and in turn, brings even more students to the University. These great programs and others make it nearly impossible for a student not to find a job or go on to grad school after graduating with a bachelor’s from UMES. The University’s uniqueness is what brings students to the campus. No other campus has the same levels of diversity, individuality, and family-oriented spirit that is found at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
