Campus Housing: Its average. Just like most schools.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: We would have to drive 15 mins to get to any type of fun things to. Not alot around UMES.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Its average. We need more classes and smaller class sizes. A lot of students get held back in there studies because classes are full.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: You have to make the first could of steps yourself to find an advisor or somebody to help you out.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Everybody is nice and likes to have a good time. It's just the type of people you have to get used to and make friends.

3 College Sophomore

Facilities: Its average. We could use a lot of help in some of these areas but its there.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: I am a part of the schools track and field team. We have very immature coaches and staff but overall its a good and helpful experience. We dont have home meets because our track isnt good.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: It was pretty rough but i got some financial aid. I really need more though. My mom is a single mother and that's why i'm applying for scholarships or i may not be able to go to college.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: The school just wants everybody to be safe. We are allowed to have fun and be silly but respect the school and the rules.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: UMES is told to everybody to be a party school because it is not a lot to do around campus. But we make the best out of our school.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The off-campus housing is fairly close to the school and not bad pricing. If you get a couple of roommates to live with and everybody splits the check it will not be bad.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: The different majors at my school is very helpful. They want to make sure we get out of there when we are suppose to. IN 4 YEARS!

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Many different types of academics are offered at my school and we have some of the best programs in the country.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Our dining is very good. We could use some more variety but other than that it is great. It also taste good.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: Where ever you go on campus you will see many different types of people and professors. My school doesnt seem to discriminate on any type of person because you see them all and a lot of them. You will get to meet different people and learn all about there ethnic backgrounds. It's very interesting and exciting to be a part of.

Off-Campus Housing: Few options , easy access

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: As a freshman you get 3 choices of dorms, the best is UT because that's where mostly everyone lives and it is suite style. The RA's are always having meetings to get people involved and social gatherings. The cost is $300 deposit for 2 semesters, $150 deposit for 1 semester. All dorms are on campus so it is very convenient and we also have a shuttle bus to take you to man places on campus and off. As Upperclassman you also have to choose 3 options of apartment style living on and off campus. Clusters, Student apartments, Ardens, and Talons North. The housing process is very first come first serve bases you must apply for housing as early as 8am and after 8:10am all the housing is filled and there is a possibility you won't receive what you wanted.

Athletics: Our best sports at UMES are the bowling team and volleyball. Not a lot of school support when it comes to these two but they are consistently winning first place at most of there games/ competitions. Our basketball team gets the most support but they aren't that good but they have potential we believe they can do better.

Eastern Shore, Md.

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is a great school because it’s not far from home for the many students who come from the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area and tuition is not extremely expensive. Another plus is that the campus is large but the student body is not. This allows students and teachers to make and maintain great relationships. The availability of classes and other resources is another plus here.

And the University is only on the rise. Buildings have been added and the campus is expanding, which has allowed for the number of students, faculty, and programs on campus to grow, as well. Recent programs that have become available at UMES include aviation and pharmacy, which have brought good media attention to the campus, and in turn, brings even more students to the University. These great programs and others make it nearly impossible for a student not to find a job or go on to grad school after graduating with a bachelor’s from UMES. The University’s uniqueness is what brings students to the campus. No other campus has the same levels of diversity, individuality, and family-oriented spirit that is found at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
