5 College Sophomore

Computers: UMD has so many computer labs around campus! A lot of work is done online so it is necessary to either bring your own computer or use theirs.

Computers: Its a huge campus so not everyone gets access to a computer but it does its job

3 College Junior

Computers: I bring my own at all times but when I do use the schools own it seems fairly okay, some needs to be updated like in the math building but otherwise it is fine.

3 College Freshman

Computers: There are labs across campus, but they can get pretty full around midterms and finals.

Not surprisingly, like at most schools, computers and the Internet are big at Maryland. “Always be connected” is a lifestyle that many Terps stick with, primarily because of the convenience and the productivity that comes with having a computer. The labs on campus offer students the opportunity to briefly check email or Facebook, or just surf the Internet. While the labs provide the technology and space to work on a research paper or a project, most students suggest having a computer in the comfort of your own room.

If it is affordable, get your own computer. Furthermore, get a laptop if you can, as laptops are more efficient for taking class notes by transcribing information directly to a computer. In addition, a laptop is portable and useful for group projects and papers, instead of having to wait for classes to let out so you can use the comptuer lab.
