Off-Campus Housing: The price of housing has increased substantially since the increase in oil drilling in the western part of the state. Renting is likely difficult for the typical college student to afford.

College Senior

Campus Housing: I live off campus with my spouse. I have no experience with campus living.

Local Atmosphere: The area has plenty of golf and water sport activities available during the summer. The winter activities include: theatre, ice skating, curling, cross country skiing, and dining out. The downtown area of Bismarck now has many restaurants and bars to choose from.

College Senior

Campus Strictness: I live off campus and am older than average. I have not had any experience in the disciplinarian aspect of the university.

College Senior

Majors: I am a registered nurse going back to school for a career change. I am trying to earn as much money as possible during school so I am not planning on doing an internship as I can make more money as a nurse.

4 College Senior

Majors: I have a bachelors degree in nursing and am returning to college to earn a bachelors degree in biology and wildlife conservation. Since I have many required classes already complete I only need an additional 34 credits. The faculty in the biology department were very helpful in class planning to assure I would meet the requirements in 2 semesters. Some of the required course schedules overlap and the professors were willing to work with me so I could take them simultaneously.

College Senior

Diversity: I am an older than the average college student and live off campus so I don't have much experience with this topic. I imagine most of the students would be accepting of sexual diversity, however, the University of Mary is a Catholic University so it is difficult to say.

4 College Senior

Academics: The faculty has been really helpful in planning my education and future career.

4 College Senior

Academics: The University is small yet offers many majors. The faculty is very approachable and helpful.

College Senior

Campus Dining: I live off campus and bring my meals with me to class.

3 College Senior

Facilities: I am an older than average student returning to college. I live with my husband off campus and therefore don't have much insight into the campus life.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: The University is south of town a few miles, not many restaurants are close by.

3 College Senior

Guys & Girls: The students are friendly and welcoming.

4 College Senior

Athletics: I am an older than average student returning to college. I myself am not involved in the athletic scene on campus. It seems that many students are very supportive of campus sports.

5 College Senior

Scholarships: The staff in the financial aid office were extremely friendly and efficient. The financial aid offices at other colleges I have attended in the past were much less helpful and prompt than the University of Mary staff.

Off-Campus Dining: There are many places that take student discounts, but not too many restaurants are open too late in Bismarck, but that is the nature of the state. There are a couple 24 hour places, and then there are fast food places. Most places to eat are very convenient. Some of the restaurants are different and it's fun to go to them and there is good food. The prices at most places is not bad and good for college students.

Academics: As a marketing major, I realize that some of my teachers have much more to offer outside of the classroom because of their skills and success in the business world. I am confident that they can help me become more successful after I graduate. The teachers want you to do well and be able to find a job after graduation. The workload is tolerable, it is very good for the major and the amount of classes I have taken.

4 College Junior

Academics: The academics at UMary are very good. Some of the best programs in the nation are at UMary. They strive to make their programs the best they can. You can generally always get into the classes you need, which makes it much less stressful. The popular programs are nursing, exercise science, and athletic training. They also have a PhD program for physical therapy, which is very impressive. Their Rome program is fantastic, luckily I was able to go and it was the best experience of my life.

Athletics: The athletics at UMary are decent. Some of the teams are great, and some are not, but it does not matter because most students are not too involved with sports. Not many people go to games are support sports too much. Football is the most attended sport, but over the course of the season it diminishes. The teams who do really well, are some teams that never have fans at their games or matches. Most students wish that there was more school spirit, but it's hard when the school itself does not always act like sports are important, or when the teams are losing a lot.

Local Atmosphere: In terms of cultural events in Bismarck, there are not too many. Bismarck is a very easy city to get around, which is nice. Most of the people are very nice toward students and welcoming to many people. There are some fun things to do, such as go to Bobcats hockey games, bowling, or going to go out and eat. When the weather is nice, it is great to be on the river and enjoy the beautiful sunsets North Dakota has to offer. There are a couple malls to shop at in Bismarck and there is always Wal-Mart for the college students!

Campus Dining: There are a couple places on campus to eat. There are two different cafeterias. The smaller cafeteria on the south side of campus is open for breakfast and lunch monday through friday, while the big dining hall is open 24/7. It is nice to have the option of going to the dining hall and being able to get as many meals or drinks as you would like. It is very convenient. There is one coffee shop on campus and they sell Caribou coffee. The south campus dining hall is generally better for breakfast and lunch. I am glad they made it possible to go into the main dining hall 24/7 because some people never know their schedule so it is really great and we're the only school that has 24/7 dining!

5 College Senior

Majors: The program majors offer a variety of excellent opportunities for all age groups.

5 College Senior

Majors: Admissions is great, they work with you and can answer any questions. You don' thave to feel alone in the process.

5 College Senior

Academics: It is very dynamic and very easy to be able to get the classes you want.

5 College Senior

Facilities: Very up to date and alot of opportunities exist.
