3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: I've never really heard about anyone getting in trouble for things like drinking, drugs, etc, but then, we're not a wild party school. I think everyone who does that stuff is pretty low-key about it.

Overall, students tend to agree that the school and the campus police are fairly intolerant toward underage drinking, weed, and honor code violations. The honor code at Mary Washington is taken very seriously. Not only do the teachers enforce it by reporting any visible cheating, but even the student body has been known to rat kids out. The punishment can be as unfortunate as academic probation to as serious as getting expelled. And, yes, this could stem from something as simple as getting caught for writing the Arrhenius equation on your arm before a chemistry exam.

When it comes to weed and alcohol, Mary Washington's policies are found to be pretty strict but are not impossible to get around. Students drink in dorms frequently, but they keep noise and anything that would cause suspicion to a minimum. The drinking policies aren't particularly strict, but parties around campus do frequently get busted, and recently police have taken the extra step of enforcing breathalyzers. The one-strike policy for weed has just recently been lifted, but take it with a grain of salt. Weed is still taken very seriously at the University and can get you in a lot of trouble.
