Weather: Being in Northern Maine, winters are long. With that said, it is understandable that we deal with snow for a large portion of the school year. It is annoying to have to walk on campus on snowy or slushy walkways, but these are a result of the geographical location of the school, not a poor job by campus staff.

Drug Safety: Drugs and alcohol aren't really visible on campus but you do see students coming to classes high, hungover, and sometimes drunk. But that is typical of most college aged students at least a few times during their college career. There is a presence of it on Facebook, where there are photos of students partying, but nothing too extreme for the most part.

Off-Campus Dining: It would be nice to see more ethnically diverse dining options for the international students who might like a taste of home once in a while.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Many people have international relationships and it's interesting to see cultures combining.

5 College Sophomore

Computers: Good computers. If you need to use one it is very likely available.

Academics: UMFK is known for its reputable nursing program. It is a hard workload but the advisers and professors are accessible if you need help and guidance and the classes are small so you get more one on one attention.

Weather: We have snow 5 months out of the academic year. The roads are well plowed and the campus is well taken care of in order to get to classes.

2 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: This is a rural university so finding housing near the campus is difficult. You have to travel quit a ways to and from classes if you live off campus.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: I chose UMFK because they are known for there exceptional nursing program. The classes are small and you get to know your professors on a personal level. The workload is hard and demanding but well worth the education I am receiving.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: This a very small school. It is not a big campus to walk around and usually you are with a group going to classes or events. I have not felt like my safety has been an issue.

3 College Freshman

Academics: The school has great knowledgeable professors, a good curriculum, the workload is reasonable. There are plenty of options for areas of study. The registration process could improve, in my opinion. Meeting with advisers could be better and more staff should be more well-rounded in knowledge about certain things to make registration an easier process.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: We have a very diverse campus and everyone seems to be extremely accepting of everyone. It is a great learning opportunity to learn from other students about different cultures.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: The gym and library are great resources for students. The Bengal's Lair is probably the most popular school hang out which is great for socialization.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: I enjoy the small class sizes that allow more 1-1.

5 College Freshman

Academics: The format online is convenient. I can access my class on Black Board at all hours.
The online nursing classes are working for me. I can e-mail an instructor, and they get back to me promptly. The grading is fair, and the other students are able to discuss issues with the rest of the class through Black Board.

4 College Freshman

Weather: Cancelled classes are announced on local tv and radio. The Center is located in a mall with plenty of parking and roads are plowed. No problems

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I am not on the campus, but Ellsworth has a small facility. It is very safe here.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: I have never been on campus, but the Ellsworth center is easily accessed and friendly.

3 College Freshman

Computers: The computers at the Ellsworth Center where I attend the online UMFK classes are over 10 years old. They are easily accessed, and I usually have no wait time. I bring my own computer and access the wireless online service. I am very happy with the set-up here. I do not attend classes in Fort Kent, for I take all my classes with them online. I do take classes offered in Ellsworth that are transferred to my degree at Fork Kent.

2 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are three restaurants in town, two of which are expensive, and the other is chinese food. There is a Subway and Mcdonalds as well, but those get old after awhile.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Food is actually pretty good in my opinion. You only have two choices: Nowland Hall (free with meal plan) and Bengals Lair (not free). But food from either is generally good.

Facilities: Student life is great if you know how to interact with people.
