3 College Sophomore

Transportation: I have rode the tarc numerous times, but it can be tricky. I once missed my second bus and had to walk 7 miles to my destination due to the drivers negligence.

Louisville is spread out, so it's just not practical to walk everywhere. Luckily, the city has a good public transportation system. The TARC bus system is especially beneficial to U of L students because students can take a bus anywhere in Louisville and even into southern Indiana for free with their student ID. The problem with TARC is that getting somewhere can get complicated. Sometimes you have to change buses two or three times before you get where you want to go. So, if you're looking for a simpler way to get around and you don't have a car, find a friend who will drive you around. With more than 16,000 students with cars on campus, you shouldn't have any trouble.

Even though you can't walk all over Louisville on foot, there are certainly places within walking distance of campus. There are quite a few restaurants next to campus, such as Bazo's Fresh Mexican Grill, Bearno's Pizza, McDonald's, Old Louisville Coffee House, and Taco Bell. If you can't walk to your destination, don't have a friend who can drive you, and don't want to take the bus, then call a cab. There are more than enough taxi services in the area to choose from, but the truth is that most students don't take them. So, take your pick: drive yourself, have a friend drive you, take the bus, walk, or take a cab. Surely with all of these options, you'll find some way to get where you’re going.
